The term you should learn is pronounced "Uh-pa-da-8" # modernize or bring up to date; "We updated the game to fix the glitches" # bring up to date; supply with recent information # bring to the latest state of technology # news that updates your information Because some people in the world cant afford a Playstation3 Portable or Xbox 360 portable to fit in their pocket! (I can, but im not talking about me!)
Your argument might actually be valid if I was able to put my PS3 in my pocket and take it out in line at the grocery store to play Uncharted or Call of Duty.
no debate I will not debate but will say this , if you expect a xbox360 or PS3 type of game on iphone/ipod you are insane. There is nothing more to say , as I deal with logical statements. You cannot fit those games with proper controls on the iphone. Something will have to be left out in order to complete the games. Whoever doesnt understand that should do some serious research into game development. THE END!!
The fact Gameloft makes knockoffs doesn't bother me as much as when they try to put these knockoffs up against original games. Anyone else notice how they rushed Dungeon Hunter 1 out to take sales from Ravensword, and Star Battalion against Galaxy on Fire 2, and now Asphalt 6 against Real Racing 2? Overall, they're a very smiley company, and I don't plan on supporting them much anymore unless they release another Earthworm Jim port or something. But I don't need a Halo for my iPod. The original games being released by Fishlabs, Crescent Moon, Ossian Studios, and the like are good enough for me.
You can't blame them for competiting. Competition is fierce in the app store and they are jsut doing what any good company does. They have shareholders to answer to.
ok Well my post wasnt about me , it was about the hardware. There are console quality game on iphone/ipod as far as Iam concerned. But we will never get games that need 12 button controls on the iphone/ipod. Maybe the Ipad as there is enough room for onscreen controls. Its not about my talent or your talent , its about making a game for the device that runs smooth and is playable.
I think that is just paranoia in your part. Plus competition brings out the best in everyone except if the competition thinks they are outclass and would rather Flame than make quality games.
The hardware is currently the best handheld hardware available in the market right now. A little optimization here and there can do wonders.
logic Obviously you understand me , so I will try to be clearer. You dont have buttons on iphone/ipod , so you need to put them onscreen. Do you think a playstation type controller would fit onscreen on ipod/iphone? Xbox controller onscreen Lol ? Sure but then most of the screen space will be gaken up. Tell me have you done research or even coded before? Honestly I think your just picking an arguement , saying whatever comes to your mind. So I just leave at that. You dont make any sense.
Game loft is the only company that makes real games for the advices not some casual mindless crap that ppl on Kotaku, joystiq, and ign users in the comments section Mack talk and make fun of.
Earthworm jimm, driver, prince of Persia, Rayman 2, settlers, etc. Are all hardcore games.better than most stuff u can find on psp or ds. And they are all ports from hardcore systems.
But it's such a cutthroat kind of competing, with a knockoff nonetheless. And with their money and resources, they could at least try to make an original game, and perhaps use games like Halo and Call of Duty as inspirations instead of as blueprints.
Timing a release date within a market where the first days of release are key and you can drop off the charts in no time isn't cutthroat. Buying out your competitors and dissolving them as EA did through much of last 10-20 years could be seen as cutthroat. To be honest any game Gameloft does is going to be seen as a ripoff. Any military shooter in modern times will be Modern Warfare, WWII shooters will be old school CoD, futuristic sci-fi shooters will be Halo and so on.
Some people see no shades of gray. It's not so complicated. There's a difference between riffing on an established formula, and outright "cloning." Remember, the Call of Duty franchise is derivative of Medal of Honor. But not in the same way Modern Combat is derivative of CoD: Modern Warfare. They could have at least stopped shy of borrowing from the name of the game, for example.
If the big console franchises don't make it to the iPhone, Gameloft is here to clone them. Their clones are of top quality.
Gameloft have made incredibly amazing games. Modern Combat 2 and Spiderman are some of the best games I've played on the iPhone. Also, Gameloft have one of the best Press Relations system and people, as well as interacting with their community. Without Gameloft, App Store gaming would not have elvoved as greatly as it has.
I support Gameloft. Sure they clone big console games, but they bring it to the palm of my hand for on the go gaming when I dont have a console.
Gameloft games aren't bad, I'd really call them mediocre (though I have only played the lites of most). You must admit, that there are fewer indie games that are full of contect and are high quality, the ones that actually fulfill these are better than any Gameloft game. (Probably some grammar errors here, I just woke up an hour ago) The only thing I can give credit for to Gameloft is opening the device to bigger companies.
