I have yet to see a kid resist Bobble Zoo (lite) I've seen 4-year-olds able to land planes in Flight Control, and seen some very interested in Bebot, but that one is hit and miss. Yardmaster is so-so, but it's got a kids' mode where the trains don't crash and you can play forever... 4x4 Jam has an auto-gas-pedal, and freeplay mode. Seems that anything that makes sound is a good choice for kids.
I hadn't ventured past spongebob lite for my 2.25 yo, thanks for the tips everyone, I just loaded up a half screen of toddler games (and I'm no longer allowed to play spongebob at work :/ )
4x4 jam in freestlye mode is one of my 3 1/2 yr old son's favorites. others at the moment: 10balls7cups shapeslide TapTap Revenge snail mail urban kick academy isotope (if he plays with my fully upgraded 1.5m ship)
New game: Whizzit Words We've got another game coming out soon (just submitted to the App store) that'll be just right for little kids... lots of sound effects, animations, special effects, and music. Check out my post in this thread for details.
Well my son is 15 months and he loves my ipod touch, it has a paul frank case, so he digs the monkey . He likes to scroll the icons back and forth, type on the keyboard in spotlight, and any apps with animal sounds. He mostly just likes to press the home button though.
I was actually going to buy my 4 year old the nintendo DS for christmas but have changed my mind since he has virtually mastered my iphone... The apps are great on it and I can choose which games are suitable at any time. He will be getting his own ipod touch for christmas this year (he is very good at taking care of his stuff). The price difference is not alot and I think he would enjoy the ipod wayyyy more the the nintendo DS... A big splurge for a 4 year old I know, but I feel it's well worth it....
Great choice; my 3.5 year old has zero interest in my DS, but asks for my iPhone on a daily basis. It actually makes more economic sense, because you can get a lot more games (and a greater variety) for a lot less money in the long run.
Lol. You Quoted a 3 months old post by me. Let me taught you a lesson.... The Rules (or Don't Do These Or You'll Get Banned)
AWazDat was just released on the app store, a new app that is perfect for toddlers. iTunes Link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=338045951&mt=8 TA Thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=32819
So me and my doughter are from sweden and all the apps for kids are with speech or text in english. Is there any good ones for a 5 year old kid that doesent use text or speech?
Our new apps Sound Shaker and Sort Slider are aimed at children 2-5 and are both highly visual. They can be enjoyed by kids in any language. We have many other universal preschool apps in development. You can check them out at TickleTapApps.com
I just released a Christmas version of AWazDat that is free! iTunes Link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=340815900&mt=8 TA Thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=34354 Website: http://www.awazdat.com
We actually decided to get our 2.25-year-old son an iPod Touch for Christmas based on his use of the iPhone. We set up a computer on the one TV in the house with a mouse and a keyboard as well as a laptop for him, but the traditional input devices don't seem to work for him at all. In contrast, anything touch, iPhone, G1, Chumby, he really reacts to, quickly learns how to work and likes. I just got the shipment in today (ordered it online so we could get the free engraving of his name and email address) and am working at figuring out setup for him. One great thing about the Touch versus the iPhone that I didn't know in advance is that it splits Music and Video into two separate icons/applications, which I think will make it even easier for him. On the iPhone, I'd say that his favorite app is actually pictures, so I'm planning on setting the Touch up as simply as possible to begin with: 1. Turning off all the apps that I can in settings (safari, youtube, itunes and app store I think) 2. Pushing back the apps like Stocks to a later screen out of his way 3. Loading pictures in albums like he's used to on the iPhone 4. Putting in a little music and maybe a video or two to start with 5. Maybe one after-market app to begin with and maybe none. This is for two reasons: first, simplicity in him starting to use it and having less there and second, adding apps adds value and fun, so might as well hold off. We haven't got a case for it yet. Anyone have a particular case they recommend? I likethe iSkin Revo for the iPhone and am thinking something similar in the bouncing variety would be good, but my husband thinks a hard case with padding would be better. Then of course screen protectors . We have to think through rules and procedures for operating it. One that I think is important to begin with is it's not just available for him to grab at will. It is going to be a toy that he has to ask for and is given to him to use at times. Not sure what else, but we'll be thinking about it... I'm excited and I think he will be too!
My son is 2.25 yrs old. He has been playing on his 2g touch for 7 months now, and has mastered everything it seems. I arranged all "HIS" Games on the same page(s). However, he can scroll and everything to find whatever he wants. He unlocks to device and even puts in the passcode by himself! His favorites are: Sort Slider Touch Pets Field Flier Sound Shaker Monster Trucks Nitro Face Fighter Peekaboo Barn Hoops Action Bowl Crazy Snowboard Alpine Crawler Where the Wild Things Are Knock Knock Zombies Payload ickle count MyGuitar Doodle Buddy Paper Toss HotDog Down a Hallway Pocket God Smashed SmackBots And more
