Im just wondering what would happen to my apps if i got a new iPod Touch? Would i be able to put them on this new iPod or not? Thanks
kool. because i'll be keeping the same computer but i need a bigger iPod touch because ive filled my 8 gig one.
thats not too bad then. I'd also have to de-register my current one cos i plan to sell it to my friend and wouldnt want him using my credit card to buy games. lol.
Ok, firstly, try and wait til third gen comes out. Think more RAM, better processor and possibly a camera. Secondly, to keep app progress, in iTunes, right click on the iPod in the device listings and select back up, the when you get your new one, restore it with this backup. It will then be exactly the same. Thirdly, restore your old iPod to original 2.2.1 firmware and then sell it. Hope this helped.
yeah i was gonna wait till 3.0 comes out and then get my new ipod touch when they come with the software on it. one thing though. What will restoring it to 2.2.1 do? does it just wipe all my games and data etc?
All the same apps would work but you would loose save data on those apps. Wait for the new ipod touch 3rd gen in a couple of weeks
Hardware improvements for sure (most likely though). Best guess though. There's more but that's all I can think of now.
i think if you restore the new ipod from backup data from your old all the settings and data will be transferred?
yeah just like if you jailbreak, BACKUP. then restore you NEW iPod (seriously wait til 3rd gen tho, possible camera, inbuilt mic, faster hardware, and other unknown improvements - IMPROVEMENTS, so wait, that's what I'd do.) when an iPod is restored to a backup (if all the files are on the computer) it will load them all back on, including apps and their saved state. After I jailbroke, I still had a game of Lock 'n' Roll going, and this was on a new firmware (2.2.1 from 2.2) so it's safe to do.. if you restore you OLD iPod to 2.2.1, or 3.0 when it's out with 3rd gen iPod touch, it will wipe everything. just don't sync with your computer, leave that to the buyer. If it's a mate, give him all your games - even if it's synced with your iTunes account, you still need to know the password to dl stuff.
The third gen touch is rumored to have a magnetometer built into the the hardware, allowing for absolute positioning. http://www.macrumors.com/2009/05/20/ashhi-kasei-to-supply-magnetometer-for-next-gen-iphone/ If I were you I'd wait for the third gen to come out. Plus the $9.95 fee for upgrading to 3.0 will be skipped
