that would be like a dream come true wouldn't it? almost like a weight lifted off of your shoulders. i imagine that if suddenly everything became free...

    for me i would probably:
-stock up on some good quality foods
    -get some new clothes
-maybe get a few accessories too (hats/shades)
    -supplies for the house
-go to the doctor get all kinds of tests
-get some new tvs and computers
-get a new car (with AC; that would be nice)
    -ect ect

as im thinking about this im wondering what i would really do:
-would i go crazy and get all kinds of stuff that i really don't need? (especially clothes and accessories)
-or would i just get what i needed?
-would i splurge and get "fashionable/popular" stuff (why not if it's free)?
-or would i just get what i think is nice?
-what would other ppl be getting and how would that effect my decision if everything was free?
-also if everything is free and assuming there is multiple choices still. if price was not an issue.. what would i base my decision on? why would i get product A instead of product B?

then there's other aspects to consider:
-like if everything is free, then no one would have to work right?
-if no one was forced to work in order to survive; how would anything get done?
-what would everyone do? would everyone just sit around and be lazy?

that last question is very interesting....

    here's an exercise:

list 10 things you would do right now if you had just inherited an infinite fortune? or everything just all of a sudden was free:

    then answer the following questions:
-how many out of 10 would benefit only yourself?
-how many out of the 10 are simply material possessions you want to acquire?
    -how many would benefit others?
-how many are accomplishments you want to achieve before you die?
-how many revolve around knowledge or curiosity; stuff you want to learn or find out before you die?
-how many of those things are you just sitting around being lazy ;)

    even more aspects to consider:
-if everything was free no one would show up for work right? this includes cops government officials doctors teachers ect ect
    -911 calls would be un-answered?
-doctors would leave patients to die?
    -schools would be empty?
-violence would fill the streets because there are no cops on duty?
-there would be total anarchy & chaos ect ect?

    this of course assumes that:
    - no one gives a issh
-that parents don't give a issh
-that society and civilized life will simply shatter into chaos if everything was free

who knows? that may be the case, that may not be the case...

also not to forget a hotly debated topic "human behavior" the questions remain:
-is human behavior influenced more by experiences aka environmental conditioning (institutions, religion, media, peers, family ect)
    -or is it genetic?
-are we born with predetermined behavior? or are we born as a blank slate?

    who knows...

If everything was free, nothing will be. Think about it.

Here's a free gammer lesson, from Canada, no strings attached:

"In America the word "Free" is overused to the point where there are ALWAYS going to be strings attached."

There's too much to what you wrote, you basically answered all your own questions. Good job :)

That wasn't free ;) Opportunity cost my friend! What could have happened had you not typed that, or what could have happened had someone else not read it :p

Nothing is free, economic thinking! That class sucked, ruined the word free for me.

  7. If everything was free ... only the one with the most firepower would get it.

    Oh the irony!

  10. To be fair, his was a spelling error, not one of grammar, so it isn't quite a case of Skitt's Law. Close enough though.

    Hello all,

If everything was free America would be in total chaos and the economy would go down the drain and people would not work for a living and would be living on the dole as in England.Government money going waste.

You are so clued up friend, cause EVERYONE in England is on the dole. Maybe you should take a trip down there instead of reading about it on blogs from people who are also stupid and clueless, trying to be inteleeguntt on the interweb like you.

    Haha, this makes me laugh.

We may be in an economic recession but seriously, it's not like we are living in a pre-apocalyptic world where everyone fights for themselves.
You obviously play too many video games.

To be honest, the first thought that came into my head was that it would be a lot harder to hold someone to ransom. Crazy.

Philosophically though, I think that if everything was free of any monetary value then the human race would just think of some other way to put a value on something.

if everything was free we wouldn't have technology, easy ways to make clothes, less food, and everything. So it'd be pointless...
