Wow! I didn't expect this - three Water World items from Sweden arrived just into my inbox. 34 minutes left... EDIT: And so far we have one email entry from Japan and one from Germany. I'll post all them here when the time's up! EDIT2: Pretty awful that no-one from Finland entered this contest either even though I did my best advertising the contest on Finnish gamedev irc channels, and sent emails to my friends... Some pals... Oh well, they have 28 minutes time left to prove me wrong.
Well, we removed skeletons, replaced fluids with flowers, and no more ouch screams. That should be enough, and if not, they'll tell us what's still wrong, and we'll fix it, too.
glad to see you aren't going to give up easily ttursas I'm excited to see the email entries! btw, what irc channels/networks are you on ttursas? freenode or rizon by chance?
Are you going to show us the other entries, even the ones that don't win? At least we'll get some ideas from them
We've put so much effort into our games that we are not here to lose this battle. I'm on ircnet, and most of the time on #igda.fi
MidianGTX's background test... Here's your background in the game, Midian! Sorry about messing up the aspect ratio. When the background gets mirrored, those waves really give it away. Perhaps some more variety would hide it? But otherwise I think that would look nice in the game if you tweaked it a little. How would it look like if those seahorses, fish and sea stars were also just shadows like the shark is?
Is the aspect ratio thing permanent? Yeah I was hoping you'd be able to tile it instead of mirroring, but if it's not possible I could probably fix it somehow. Could be alright, I purposely made sure they all had good, obvious outline shapes so they'd be easily recognizable... they do seem a little bright at the moment, I could try just darkening them more without turning them into shadows.
That's actually not a bad thing as the game's now suitable for children, with candy and flowers, too!
No, I can fix it easily, takes just few minutes... ... Actually I could do that as well. Tiling would solve that issue, yes. Ok!
The 2nd iDrop Dead contest is over! Thanks for all who participated! I'll now post the entries I got via email, and then me and Jyri figure out who get them prizes!
email entry #2 from Sweden Three items, electric eel that gives electric shocks, an octopus that wants to bounce against the ragdoll, and a sea star that starts to rotate when the player touches it with his finger. ... Seems like the author really read through this thread and used the ideas nodoctors gave? EDIT: I think I could make the octopus a ball with four rectangular tentacles, and eel could be three or four rectangular shapes again, joined together with joints... I need to edit the graphics a little...
email entry #3 from Germany Propeller that acts like an underwater saw, and a pufferfish that stings the ragdoll. ... Again, I guess thanks goes to nodoctors for the ideas.
Wow those are great! I'd be happy to see any of those in the game. Apple would likely turn down the Bush bomb though
