Oh just to add, it says iTunes file sharing is off - I downloaded it yesterday and have had no problems at all.
Great stuff, got it and backed up the app. Seems to work well, added some games myself, all works well so far
I just use iexplorer. Navigate to the games folder under idos and create them there. Then you can go into dos mode , into the games folder and run them, so far so good. Couple of slow games but it's quite fun trying Has about 6 games you can download and run
That was quick. I was lucky enough to get a copy while it was still up. I can confirm that adding games through iExplorer works like a breeze. It's a nice upgrade over the previous version. I especially like the feature with which you can minimize the game screen when you use your iPad in horizontal mode. Too bad Apple pulled it so quickly though...
I swear if I can get Railroad Tycoon 1 running on this and is 'playable', then suddenly my ipad will be worth the £600 I'm paying for it!!
Its been fun using this, i've tried to add a few games but they're running very slow, maybe theres a way i can increase the speed. Very basic games (Boulderdash, basic platformers) work well, but any larger games seem to struggle. I tried a few FPS games and they ran very slow. Still fun adding some very old games to play on it though
It's on the US store as "Aemula Oldies", but looks different. You could try searching for the developer "Chaoji Li". iDos is only listed in the UK store. Currently have Day of the Tentacle CD-ROM version running very well and other Lucas Arts games running like a dream.
I've got Aemula Oldies, that was a 'legit' release with freeware games and also there was no ability to add your own games. Did you manage to speed up the app ? I presume for Day of the Tentacles you need the processor to run faster ?
All with default settings using SB16 sound. There are sound issues when multi-tasking or receiving notifications. Closing iDos then restarting in airplane mode works perfectly. I created a CD-ROM image, then use the "imgmount" command in iDos to set it as the cd drive.
This might still be listed in the UK store, lucky, but even a direct search for iDos comes up empty in the US store. Also, I too have Amuela Oldies and can confirm that it's a legit release.
Amuela is a 'legit' app, it features some freeware games but you cant 'break' it to add your own games, so its not like an emulator, its just an app with some decent freeware games iDOS is more an emulator, you can download several freeware games for it but unlike Amuela you can go to the dos prompt, so you can add games to it via say iExplorer/iFunbox and then run these via the dos prompt or create shortcuts. I've added a fair few games to it but some of the 'larger' games run quite slow, i think thats more to do with the fact that i need to learn how to amend the ini type files to get these games to run normal speed. Its quite fun adding old games to it and trying it out though.
