Really? I don't know if your being genuine or intentionally difficult! I have heard of many of the games talked about in this thread! They are listed in many computer discussions of classics! I like fiddling with computers, I want to have a go and see if I can get some of them to run. Your attitude is like someone getting their first pc with windows vista on and if they ask for help you commenting that if they haven't had a PC before why are they getting one now! It's seems a strange opinion to have about someone trying something for the first time.
Ya know, the more I think about it, internet connection through 3g could be possible because of the very thing that got idos kicked out of the appstore (other than licensed Namco content packaged in). All iphone files are available to applications run in iDos. By all logic and reason, someone smarter than me could get that done. The futures so bright, I gotta wear shades. Sorry to change topics but this thread was getting dark.
Hi all, im running this on a 3gs and tried installing win95 using twisted_pro's guide and files, however im now stuck at a black screen, should i just let it run on? or has something gone completely wrong? ive also noticed this number at the bottom of the screen, it did say '3000' but is now showing '100%'. ive seen on other screen shots it saying '4500' and in twisted_pro's guide '10000'! am i right to assume this is the cpu clock cycles and if so, can this be altered to improve performance? thanks for time
Just a remark: The DOS command line is still available in every Windows - even Windows 7. You can find it in the Start menu. The commands are still the same, so just use the Windows help to get all the information on how this works. For me, age 39, the discussion is quite amusing. I consider someone aged 26 a "kid".
contribute something useful. and to the rest of you, I apologize for another useless comment. please allow me to kinda redeem myself... http://www.dospad.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13&sid=87f22a05b76ee96078f0eeb8417c4341 this thread has already been posted, but there's some good info there without tons of BS in case anyone missed it.
Star control 2 runs full speed as far as I can tell. Music is not great but I just turned it off ingame and left sounds on. Really wish I had an iPad to play this on.
I can't even find a config file after installing win95 : ( It seems like it was overwritten or removed after install which doesn't seem possible as idos must have some sort of config file to run, I assume. Bottom line, I'd like to know what people have to say about setting up cycles. I've got an iPhone4 and I know it could be set to a better cycle speed than 3000. EDIT: Okay, apparently the file doesn't show within idos now that i've installed win95 but its there, igobymanynames. You want to look at app data for idos in itunes or whatever app you use for file sharing (I use diskaid) and pull down the file called dospad.cfg. Edit it with wordpad and you'll see something like this: [dosbox] [sblaster] #sbtype=none [render] frameskip=0 [cpu] core=dynamic cycles=4000 cycleup=500 cycledown=20 [mixer] #rate=22050 #blocksize=8192 prebuffer=100 [midi] mpu401=none mididevice=none [speaker] #pcspeaker=false [render] scaler=none As you can see, you can mod your settings here. Hope this helps : ) EDIT AGAIN: Okay, my test settings made it poop the bed soooo take those settings with a grain of salt. Any who, thats the config file. Confirmed. Just be smarter with it than I was : )
downloaded some games off of bestoldgames.net. they download to my computer (mac). they show up as a folder with a bunch of stuff in it. from here, how do i get them onto my ipod!? any help would be great. sorry if this info is repeated somewhere but ive been trying to figure it out forever and am starting to lose hope
You could change the default settings in dospad.cfg: [cpu] core=normal cycles=3000 cycleup=500 cycledown=20 Just remember that faster does not always mean better performance.
Hi thougt I would share a couple of findings. Here is how I got a nice system going. Use icab web browser to browse to a good website and download the game I want as a zip. Exit and go to ifile which is a jailbreak app for system navigation. Open icab folder and copy game.zip Go to idos in ifile and create a new folder in games called gamename. Paste game.zip in there and run unzipped utility available in ifile. Delete zip file. Open idos and run game. No pc or Mac needed but a jailbreak is of course.
Man, I feel lost. I grew up using dos, and for some reason, I can't remember specific things. I was able to install Win 3.1 on my iPad, yet, I can't for the life of me install a game. I can execute games that don't need installations, but I believe I need to mount a virtual floppy or something? Can someone just throw out a simple line. For instance, say your are trying to install Questron2, and the exe is called qtron2.exe and it's inside of its own folder called \qtron2 What would be the syntax to make this think it's being installed from something other then c:\ where it resides? I read a few tutorials but still not getting it. Thank you in adv!
