No worries, I'll give it my best, but I would really like some PMs about what games you guys have working and what settings. As well as shortcuts like the ctl+f8 does what? I'm not 100% sure myself other then increases CPU speed?
I'm disappointed I didn't pick iDOS up . . . I didn't think I would need a DOS emulator for anything, but then after it got pulled, I saw people running Windows 95 and then remembered Jazz Jackrabbit. I really hope it'll come out again with more restrictions. (Most likely won't though.)
I'm attempting to get Gabriel Knight 2: Sins of the Father working with a No CD patch I found - but though I've gotten the patch to work on Vista successfully in the past, it hangs on Win7. Going to try it again in compatibility mode.
On the iPad hit the gearwheel symbol top left. "Customize Key Pad". There you can map the keys. Sorry for off-topic "games". Got the Windows 3.x picture viewer ACDSee to work on iPad. Downloaded from here (v 2.2): http://wiki.oldos.org/Downloads/Windows3x First I had to switch to VGA 256 colors (to be exactly: S3 864 1.41B5 640x480 256 drivers) otherwise it won't install. Instructions here (together with Soundblaster drivers, listen to the old Win system sounds, play and edit WAV and MIDI): http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=9405 Only drawback with VGA 256: When you switch back to DOS with Alt + F4 the DOS prompt won't show up properly. (BTW tried to install VGA 32K colors: works, the pics are looking better, but the whole Windows gets damn slow.) Just run acdsee.exe. Install needs ten minutes or so…
Holy Mother of Oats! I have the complete collection on CD, gotta find time to visit my storage to dig it back out...
Trying to put Windows 3.1 on but keep getting an error saying "image not found". My iso is WINDOWS31.ISO and after going to z drive I type the following code (imgmount e c:\WINDOWS31.ISO -t iso)... What am I doing wrong here?
I only have 2 DOS games with me right now: Operation Crusader (wargame) and Systems Shock (CD ver) I don't have time cause I have a homework to finish (deadline Tue) and then fix the mouse problem of Operation Crusader and then SS. If you cannot bear the wait, I am quite certain that some Looking Glass fans have set up a site contains answers to issues related to running SS on DosBOX or similar emulators. YMMV, though.
I think there should have been a thread over the General forum detailing the settings and workarounds of various games/platforms/utilities for iDOS, just like what you did for Retina Display and GameCenter list. If there isn't one already, I am starting one.
How would you "Page UP"? I am running DIR and want to see the first entries but they get pushed off the screen, I thought PGUP would move it but I don't have that key...
Hello. I have been tinkering with this app for a while now and decide to ask where you all are getting your games. Are you just getting them of the original CDs or is there some really good site I can't find
Ok guys about halfway done with the tutorial, I'll be adding the windows install and games lists tomorrow hopefully if I have the time... Sorry but I have to sleep for now...
Nice work, 1337brian. I must admit I am a little amused watching you all suddenly try to unravel the mystery that is DOS.
