HI tsharpfilm. I installed Warcraft 2 successfully... FINALLY! BUT the game runs sooo slow. How do I fix it? Cycles at 100 and cfg file edit does NOT work
you need to up the cycles... ctrl-shift-f11-f12 or something it was a few pages back they had it up there....
I have same problem with 2nd gen. Apparently you need to have os 4.0 running on your iPod. Not sure if I want to upgrade my os but might just need to do it so I can play some bards tale.
Disappointed Having spent the last hour or so trying to fiddle with the cfg file and with various games (varied in requirements, not style), I have no other choice but to come to the conclusion this is nothing but a waste of time. A shoddy 1:1 port of a great desktop app that was ported without any consideration of the particularities of the iOS devices. The end user experience pretty much feels like a chore, like trying to program an modular analogue synthesizer with the 5-buttons interface of a coffee maker. I have huge experience with all things DOS and emulation (I grew up with 8086 up to 486 computers at home) so this is not an issue. This issue here is this app is nothing but a tech demo. Sadly, it'll never get past this point. Too bad, I get carried away for a second, hoping I could get UFO/X-Com in my pocket.
people got warcraft 2 running fine on it, just have to move up the cycles... most games will have its own cfg file for it similair to dos box i wouldnt give up on it yet...i wish i could dl it but it got pulled...
So I'll ask, does this let you have flash-enabled internet? I'd love to rev up some flash games on this! Too bad I got my iPod taken away before I could play.
Sigh... I can't believe I didn't get this last night, all because I misread the price as $9.99 at a glance and didn't take a second look. Somebody, please convince me that this isn't all that great so I can stop tearing myself up about it.
Well, this is one of the fasted growing thread on TA. Is the developer still around? I guess if they go to JB market, there is little chance the app would return.
God Mode? Try typing "it is a good day to die" before upping the cycles maybe? Couldn't hurt is all I'm saying...
haha don't worry pretty much everything runs like crap on an ipod touch 4g. Its just fun to navigate dos and get things to boot
Luckily I did buy it earlier today when I saw the TA article. For some reason I didn't think it would get pulled so fast.
Yeah, I think I had another login a while back, but that's my first post from this one. Can't believe the detractors on this thread. Just seeing the warcraft 2 install screen filled me with joy.
Same here. I figured that since commodore 64 got a pass, dos might, too. Learned long ago to grab these things while you can though. Still bummed about missing that flashlight/tethering app a while back.
Cool. I couldn't edit the cfg like the others because it crashes the app (and the manual says it might to some). I guess I'm just SOL. What games do you suggest? Also... I've been asking all day. Maybe you'll answer and throw me a bone. Got the Windows 3.1 zip installer? Lol
I have to agree. I haven't been able to do jack shit with this emulator (yet). The last hour has been spent on research, and trying to get the thing to run well on my 4th Gen iPod touch. I got it to play Wolfenstein 3D at a decent speed, but even then - the controls were still a bit funky to use. I thought some of the old BASIC games I made 16 years ago would perform better, but even those were laggy. I haven't give up hope though. After another day of tweaking, I might be able to find a cool use for this thing. We'll probably have to tweak the hell out of the cfg file some more. From the looks of it, this emulator performs best on iPads. Plug iDevice into computer. Open iTunes. Select device. Click the apps tab at the top. Scroll down to file sharing. Select iDOS. Select dospad.cfg. Click save to... Make a backup of the file. Edit the file with a text editor. And then copy it back over through file sharing.
I got Warcraft 2 to run, but it wouldn't actually start the game. Just a black screen for a minute or so. I gave up at that point - it's unplayable anyway.
