thanks. I just got this working using the same method you did. just had to get the download manager and ifile first. I'm at work and don't want to deal with syncing. edit: just tried the cpu at 920 and it works great on my 3gs!
Oh, I remembered now - the problem with The Dig is that my copy of the game (one I got to run with ScummVM on my PSP) doesn't seem to have an executable file I can run :S
Good to know that slowing the speed down helps. Sounds like we'll have to experiment with lots of speed settings to find the sweet spot. People complaining about certain games shouldn't give up until all the settings are tweaked and tested.
thats awsome....i figured there was similair options as was in dosbox....makes sense so all the chopyness problems will get solved with these kind of settings, i am sad i missed the dl of this before it got pulled probably forever.... i got alot of old dosgames!!!! doom2 / warcraft 2 / wing commander 2 come to mind.... check out abandonia.com tons of old dos games for dl that have become freeware
*slow clap* Give it up for people who only feel good about themselves when they tear down others! Woohoo! Seriously though, grow up. I'm just looking to play some DOS games I grew up on, so calm down. Thanks for the information though, now when I see the word "Win32" I'll connect it with Windows (which I don't use, I'm a Mac user, always have been).
Nice! I needed that. Thanks a lot. I'll look into it. And here's the post again for those who missed it.
umm not true the games on the site are not pirated some games are protected and cant be dl the site is 100 percent legit....games become freeware/vaperware/abandonware after certain amount of time..
Dude, no offense, but how could you possibly not know what "this program needs to run in Windows" means? The only way that's possible is if you flat out didn't know what DOS and Windows were.
Yeah, no doubt. I was a little shocked actually, but works. Only issue I'm having now is the game doesn't save the keyboard/keypad mapping from session to session. If anyone figures this out, or has a workaround, let me know.
If we're talking about one specific site, which I think we were, then it does appear that the games are indeed abandoned. Check out the criteria the site uses, taken from the wikipedia page about it: Abandonia's definition of abandonware is one of the more clearly defined (and possibly the most restrictive) in the abandonware scene. In order for a game to be considered abandoned - and therefore hosted on the site - it has to pass three very specific criteria: First, the game has to be unavailable on the retail market and no longer distributed by its publishers nor by legitimate retailers in any form. Second, official support for the game must have been dropped both by its publisher and developer. Third, the game must not be under active protection of any anti-piracy agency, such as Entertainment Software Association, nor directly by the copyright holders themselves. If a legitimate copyright holder for any game requests its removal, any downloads of it (or links to thereof) present on the site and its forum will be subject to removal by site staff (although the review of the game would still remain onsite). Not every site is like that, of course.
seriously the site would of been pulled years ago had it been illegal, the games are abandon ware...are you guys clueless? seriously? these are old 1989-and up games not supported by any company and all no retail is being made is dropped they then become abandon ware... the companies that made them either don't exist anymore and money is no longer made off of the software....
dynamic core does not work on non-jailbroken devices Just FYI. The app will crash, due to inability for PAGE_EXEC. Cheers, Stu
Just because the license holders aren't actively distributing the games doesn't mean they have abandoned their rights. It may be "ethical piracy" but it is still piracy.
