Well, if you kept your 1.3 IPA file, you can always put that on, dump all your data, then upgrade to 1.4...
You said that before but I didn't understand/believe you until now! Does it really work? I assumed "upload everything you care about" from the developer notes referred to making a copy of your DOS files because the 1.4 update would wipe it all out. Sounds like it's the reverse. Sigh. I deleted the app from my phone and reinstalled fresh when it was crashing under iOS 9. I probably have the old 1.3 IPA somewhere and will preserve it while I can. I haven't added anything to my "iOS orphans" folder in Dropbox in a while. Thanks again for the tip. This sounds like a PITA, and overly delicate, a sure way to lose progress since it can't get backed up. That's in addition to being an impractical way to play DOS games.
Hehe, no problem. App data has always been a royal pain in the ass to manage. Let's just hope that the dev can sneak File Sharing back in at some point.
Well, I need help Some time ago, Softstar released Chinese Paladin (aka "The Legend of Sword and Fairy" or "仙剑奇侠传") as a freeware. It can be downloaded here >>> http://update1.baiyou100.com/resource/Pal98rqp.zip Soon after, some western fans made a translation, available here >>> http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2441/ The thing is that I can't make it work properly with the english tranlation, neither in iDos or with a the tool made by other fans for running the game on almost every OS [called SDLPAL, downloadble here >>> https://sdlpal.codeplex.com/ ] Any idea how to make it? Thanks in advance
iDOS file sharing Sent the following this morning to Macroplant support re my recent purchase of iExplorer. Putting it here for your info. Wondering if there has been any change in the status of the iDOS file sharing situation. Previous attempt to send this might have gone to the wrong address. Trying it here. to Macroplant Support re iExplorer purchase July 20 2016 Thank you for the prompt reply in setting me up with a passcode. Dont expect Im going to tell you anything new about the issue below, but for what its worth...... I had purchased iExplorer in order access the software iDOS so as to be able to add my own DOS applications. Have been reading here and there on the net that this functionality was there at one time, but has been removed due to company policy at Apple. The various articles on the net were somewhat confusing in that it seemed there was a workaround to take care of this issue. Other articles said not. So I decided to go ahead and give it a try anyway. Attaching two screen shots showing where I ended up, one with iDOS and the other with iDOS 2 I bought iExplorer for the express purpose of setting up iDOS. Unless I can find a way around the file sharing issue it would seem that I have spent money on software that doesnt meet my needs. I do note however that the discussion around the problem is at least a year old and in most cases even older. Find myself wondering if there has been any progress since. Is there anything you can suggest I might try before requesting a refund. Sending a copy of this to the iDOS developer as well. Hopefully we can make this thing work. Cheers Ron Mitchell [email protected]
Apple changed the way he file system worked. iExplorer worked until that happened. It's not Macroplant's fault and they're unlikely to give you a refund. The App Store version of iDOS 2 appears to be dead, and has been for ages. If you really want DOS apps on your iPhone, you could build it yourself from his code. https://github.com/litchie/dospad Personally, I've moved on. I can run DOS programs in other places, especially ones with big screens and built-in keyboards. You can get a cheap Windows tablet for next to nothing.
