It became extinct 11,500 years ago but I haven’t been able to find out why. The shrub-ox had a diet of shrubs and trees. Slightly quicker to collect, through playing a series of memory mini-games, was my first mythical creature - a kitsune. According to the built-in animalopedia the kitsune slowly feeds on people’s life force, able to do so in multiple short sessions. Sounds familiar.
