You ever run into people who use their iPhones/ iPod touches only for calling/ SMSing/ Facebooking/ Tweeting/ Music? How does it make you feel? I recently ran into one such chap who has an iPhone4 and does not play a single game or use a single app on it. Made me want to hit him!
Why? That's just their choice. There isn't any fineprint on the back saying you MUST have applications other than the standard ones.
My technologically inept senior citizen parents along with my mentally challenged brother got new iPhone 4's yesterday. They barely knew how to answer their old basic cell phones. I will not hit them though, nor do I want to. However, I want to hit the AT&T chap who sold them this stuff along with U-Verse.
If per chance they are not aware then I try to enlighten them by showing off an epic game but if so then it's their own choice. Hard to believe I know but some simply aren't gamers and tis a waste of a good device, imo.
Business Executives get iPhones and iPads. Why? Because they want to play Infinity Blade all the time and are impressed by the graphical output? No, they are the gadget to have and show off as a status symbol so they get them for no other reason. My boss has one, a 32gb iPhone 4. There are no other apps or even music on his device, it is only used to call people. The SMS app doesn't even get opened. But he now feels special and thats all that matters
I'd never buy an iPhone and only use it for calls/SMS simply because there are much cheaper options for that. If other people do they're either unknowingly wasting money or just want the iPhone because they think it's cool. iPod Touch on the other hand... not quite as bad. I gave my old one to my mum and she doesn't know how to use the App Store yet so it's just for music. To be fair though she did get it for free and she asked me to explain apps to her sometime.
Well, my 72-year-old father is now an Angry Birdsn and and PvZ freak, so I guess there's hope for everyone. I would say that technology-challenged folks often find iPhones easier to use than regular phone because of the radically friendlier UI.
Yes, guess it is you who's acting like an idiot, narrow-minded and jealous. Ever heard of a term called "multi-media device"? You can do with it what ever you want. And because they're not limited, it is not a waste. Well, isn't anyway. I should go now and punch everyone who has a knife and doesn't cut statues out of wood. Get a grip, dude.
You ever run into people who think all iDevice owners should be gamers? How does it make you feel? ...Oh wait. Those must be two really good songs.
I have a friend whose only app is angry birds on a iPad. I wanna punch him in the face... jk. What a waste of an ipad lmao
ahhh, good times. I rarely use apps, I haven't bought a game for atleast 5 months. I use emails, twitter, facebook and music mostly, also I love having my PDFs with me at all times
It's still a phone, doesn't really matter what they use it for. I'd prefer something different, like a person that's app-less, rather than having a bunch of apps and arguing about this and that.
Yeah, I'd never have an iphone if I was just using it for calls! Lots of money wasted there! I'll give them a cheap phone and they can pay me monthly for the difference! Help supplement my out-of-control app addiction! Heh-Heh!!
Wait, if he uses it only for calling, why is it 32gb?! Why didn't he just get the 16 one? Thats just ridiculous to get the one with more space even though you're not going to use any of it.
Kind of disrespectful to call users of iPhones or iPod Touches idiots if they don't use the games. People get products to suit different purposes. I now have both and each one has different things installed on them. I won't use my phone in the gym because I am afraid it might fall, get too sweaty, etc; so there is hardly as much music on it as my iPod Touch. The iPod Touch has more of the in depth games installed on it. The iPhone has more productivity apps installed on it. My father got the iPhone 3G when it first came out because he was looking to replace his Palm Treo - he found it easy to use and navigate. It was easy to sync and he could do what he needed to do on it. Slowly but surely he discovered apps and word games and stuff like that. He also discovered a million and one other productivity apps (that he is always showing us every chance he has). So he is expanding his use over the years. Eligible for an upgrade of course but figures why bother since he is used to what he has. Just like anything - there are so many uses for a product to make everyone happy. Chances are, if they use an iPhone or an iPod Touch for things other than games they won't be on this forum so it's kind of harsh to speak of them and their choices when the majority of users here are in it for the games. Who knows, they might look at us as idiots for just wanting to play games all the time.
My wife does not use any apps nor does she text. She uses it to make calls and to play music. She has a pay-as-you-go sim card in my old 3GS - I didn't buy her a new one. One really nice thing about the iPhone is the address book and such and the fact that it's a great music player. The one big downside is the lousy battery life, relative to a dumb-phone, which carries over. I think Apple should get on the ball and produce a cheap iPhone mini that does not support apps nor 3G data at all, is dirt cheap on an inexpensive contract and has great battery life. Screen could be smaller too. There's definitely a market for that. A cheap, limited-purpose iPhone. I know many people would love to have that.
