I was wondering what the TA community's ideas/suggestions were about what the rumored upcoming 4.0 update for the iDevice.

Please write any features you would like added in 4.0, along with any other things you would like to add regarding the (hopefully) upcoming update.

    My ideas/suggestions:

--Folders/Catagories/Page Naming (for organizing all your cluttered apps)
    --Multitasking
    --Multitouch updates
----e.g. Scroll with 2 fingers on home screen to flip 2 pages, 3 fingers flips 3 pages etc.

Since this is my first major thread posted at TA, if I can edit the page I will add ideas I like to this (which I think I can).

    Additional Ideas from you guys.

It has to have folders and background apps for 3GS and above. A radical new approach to the springboard would be nice considering how old the OS is now.

Folders, custom wallpaper, custom icons. Multi-tasking would be alright but I can see how easily problems might arise... even if they restricted it to two apps only it'd be a good improvement.

I doubt they'll come out with multitasking or folders or any of that cool stuff, but if they did it would be a nice surprise.

It'll be extremely disappointing if they don't add multitasking this year, the 3GS and third gen Touch have more then enough RAM to run multiple apps at the same time. Gimping a product in the name of simplicity or worse yet "battery life" is outright lazy and a slap in the face to their customers IMO.

My thoughts as well. I have been craving for multitasking on the iPhone since time immemorial. I was fairly sure the 4G iPhone would get it and it'll be confirmed by releasing multitouch for the iPad announcement. But when the iPad was announced and didn't get it, I'm getting skeptical we'll see that feature, at least for this year. Seems like Apple is gonna focus first on addressing the horrible battery life of the iDevices. If they'll put multitasking on the 4G, then it's possible we'll see a thicker iPhone this year. Unless they pulled some Steve Jobs voodoo magic in this new A4 chip. If there is that magic sauce, I'm still trying to figure out what's Apple's gameplay for not including that in the iPad. So yeah, as much as I hate to say it, I don't think we'll see multitasking this year :(. This "multitasking in the 4.0 OS" has only been in rumor sites and fanboy blogs without credible sources as of yet. But on the other hand, we'll be seeing a boost in battery life, 1Ghz processor, OpenGL 3.0, better cam and perhaps even a camera flash, higher pixel screens, and the ability to do the laundry.

If lots of fanboys were pissed and disappointed that the iPod touch and the iPads weren't given the camera treatment, add the multitasking feature to the list for the next keynote. :(

Yeah, and Android will be happy.

The iPhone Definitely needs a Built-in Toaster.

I doubt folders will come because the iPhones best selling point IMO is it's simplicity to navigate. Look at any LG or Samsung copycat and they are just flutters and complex.
Although folders would be helpful, it won't fit well.

My wish is for App store to remember multiple accounts so I don't have to retype email addresses and passwords everytime I wanna swap accounts

Then we'll hide the folders option from the idiots that require simplicity ;) Scrolling 11 pages isn't very streamlined anyway, and spotlight is slower than opening a folder and touching an icon.

I'll give you that it's simple, I had third party app managers for the Palm III with more complexity and better organization then the iPhone's springboard.

    - Wallpaper for the Home screen (could happen since the iPad can, and runs the iPhone OS).
    - More wallpapers (Settings > Wallpaper) - come on, give us some fresh new wallpapers.
    - BUG FIXES (especially that volume slider bug is very annoying).
    - YouTube downloader.
    - A simple way to hide any app.
    - Better battery life (just mention ''improved battery life'' and I will be happy).

Yes, I know this all can be done with jailbreak (except for better battery life and bug fixes that is), but I want to see it from Apple - it's their product.

I don't get why, I quite like black, and behind loads of app, could you see much?

Agreed. I am bored with them and most are very girly.

I don't have this problem anymore when I upgraded to something like 3.1.2
but then people will download music videos instead of buying from iTunes.
    yes yes yes!

    Themes!

Developpers and/or Artist could make their own theme thru a Programm Provided with Apple, making it Extremely secure, and then the Devs could sell it in iTunes and update contastly, and some free themes too...!

It's ugly as hell. There's a themes topic here with nearly 55,000 views, people like customisation.

Good idea! I'd love to see Matte Nano, Illumine and Suave on the store. The guys that made those deserve proper credit. The only problem is that I'd still want control over custom icons and wallpaper.

Heck ya! Then movies could come out and have themes.
    $1 themes-Simple, clean themes.
$2 Basic movie and game themes.
$5- Premium themes. Sounds, Icons, Background, Slider, clocks, etc. Full blown nice themes.

OR free themes like they offer in Cydia.
They should allow tweaks too, like the 7x7 springboard.

I'd gladly pay a guy $0.99 for his excellent work on a theme. Life isn't about how much stuff you can get for free.
