I will ask this question here, since this thread is the most relevant and active at the moment : For those of you who- like me- played the PC games to death over several years, with mods, without etc, how do you find the Enchnced Edition experience on the tablet? Does it bring any fresh/new/ exciting feeling, or you just buy them to have the classic games on mobile? I ask this because some time ago i got the BG II enchanced for the PC, i started it happily and with excitement, and then realised that i had no desire to play, since i knew the story and where to go / what to do by heart already, and just some more character options/ gameplay tweaks didn't make it for me. Has anyone gone through this? And will IWDEE bring us something new? I *want* that style of rpg on my ipad, but the BG/ IWD/ Planescape/ ToEE i have played to death and i don't get the "new" excitement. How is it for you all?
I know what you mean and i probably didnt play them as much as you did by the sounds of it For me its just great having Baldurs Gate with me at 'all times' so i can have a quick go here and there. Yeah i kinda know what i'm doing but i can also take my time with it or try slightly different things than i did before. Same for KOTOR. However if you really know the game totally inside out then yeah the excitement level might be lower But same for Doom, i completed that back in the day, years later i'm thrilled to have it on my phone so i can have a quick go here and there at all times. Same here for Baldurs/Icewind Dale etc
Email exchange with Beamdog support. TLDR: it may take a full day for Apple to load the app to the store for it to become available, after it is 'ready for sale'. With any hope, that means availability later today, just in time for the weekend. "Hello, Thank you for contacting Beamdog support. My name is Stephen, and I will be assisting you today. Unfortunately, once we submit our application to Apple, it is subject their processes before it will be visible on the AppStore. At this time, the status has been changed to "Ready for Sale", but it may take as long as a full day for the application to appear in the AppStore. I apologize for the premature excitement, but we should see Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition as soon as Apple finishes the loading process. Thank you and please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. -Stephen"
I'm with psj3809: just being able to have my favourite RPGs with me 'at all times' just so that I can dip in whenever I like is just fantastic. For that reason alone, I have San Andreas and KOTOR practically perma-installed. IWD is a particular favourite of mine from around that era - moreso than the Baldur's Gate games, for me - and I can't wait to roll a new party.
For what its worth: I've given Apple a poke through their support channel to see if there's any lead time to availability for IWDEE. Due to previous experience, I don't expect much: I'll probably just get some stock reponse from one of their Tier 1 support staff in Mumbai but - what the hey - I figure it's worth a try
Hi guys I'm pretty new to these D&D game and want to ask. Personally which game is better ? Baldur gate 2 or Icewind dale ? From what I gather from the Internet IWD seem to be liner and more hack and slash while BG 2 is more about story ? Also how is IWD compare to IWD 2 ? Should I wait until they port IWD 2 too ? Between BG 2, IWD and IWD 2 I think I only have time to invest in one, which one should I get ( in IWD 2 case of course I will need to wait for the port ). Thank guys and sorry for my English
Opheus, for your case i would recommend to get the BGIIEE, since it has a great story, npc interactions AND your dose of *sometimes insane* hack and slash, and then get IWD2 when it's ported. Only reason to choose IWDEE now is if you really don't have time for stories, npc dialogues, subquests etc and want just pure "go there with your party, kill stuff, go next". If anyone hasn't played BG and BGII, i would recommend them over IWD just so you can get that feeling the rest of us got when we first played (hopefully). Dalglir and psj, thanks for your responses. I guess i will wait it out for my Planescape EE, i adored this game above all others and would def. play again, even today!
Game is not searchable on the UK AppStore but the toucharcade link works just fine! Downloading NOW! Moving across to the 'official' game thread. Ciao folks.
