Hehe ... I don't want 500, I want 1000!!!! But people where getting scared to compete after seeing the high scores! This would have to be a contest for super bosses only. If you guys wanna help me organize it, it would be great. I wanted to get advanced Flappy Bird players to compete in the Tournament, but I didn't know where to look : /
In my opinion it would always be better to give out smaller prizes and thus more of them, so more participants can get a prize for their time/effort/contribution. It's very generous to give out $100, $50, $25 iTunes gift cards, but if you instead gave out $10, or $15 iTunes gift cards, far more participants are rewarded, as you could give out a lot of them as opposed to say, 1 $100 iTunes gift card. I'm not sure how others view contests on here, but I avoid most of them because they usually give out 1 iTunes gift card as a prize. This is especially silly when you are trying to get participants and you are giving out 1 $100, $50, or $25 iTunes gift card... You'll have a bunch of participants and the chance of any one of them winning is really quite low, for this reason they don't get my participation/contribution (whatever that pertains to in the particular contest). I'd be 100% more likely to participate in a contest with 10 $10 iTunes gift cards, than 1 $100 iTunes gift card. Probability isn't that hard to determine.
Thanks for the feedback, Andromeda! I'll keep that in mind for the next contest. I also need to know where to promote contests and apps. TouchArcade has been the best place for me to find players and testers, but I haven't found any other communities that are as good.
