Hey guys, The update is "Waiting for Review" at Apple. I haven't been around lately because, being a one man show with way too many projects, I've found that hanging around on forums was dramatically slowing my coding So ultimately it's for the best Here are some new screenshots: BTW my next game is looking pretty good already, I'll have a thread in the upcoming section soon.
Looks great. So many good games to play recently (SQH, Pix'n Rush, Warblade, updates for Cubed Rally Racer, Fruit Ninja, and Grokion). Really looking forward to this one, too. Rock on.
Wow, thank you for the screenshots the upgraded weapons look amazing. Cool, hope apple will speed things up! Can't wait I think it will be great work! btw what exactly is meant by "Cave's Black Label edition"?
1.5 Available now The update has just been approved! The game will be on sale at $0.99 as long as it stays in the charts. A warning to experienced shmupers: the new Redux campaign on Easy mode is now BORING EASY. The harder modes however ...
Thanks, I was looking forward to this update. Are the hard and impossible levels now easier to unlock?
The new compaign is awesome! It's somewhat disappointing it reuses the classic mode's resources in terms of visuals, but it makes up for it in being a lot more hectic. One minor complaint: it seems the hit box indicator on the ship fades in and out... which rather diminishes its usefulness. Can you implement an option to simply have it on all the time?
Assault Squadron is, honestly, terrible. Not even the recent patch improved that game's slow, plodding pace and entirely poorly-designed bullet patterns. No, this game isn't the next Espgaluda or Ikaruga or Touhou or whatever, but it's still a lot of fun. Fast, frantic, polished. Everything you'd want from a little one-man shmup and then some.
Have only had a little time with the new campaign, but am really enjoying it so far. Great job, Quadsphere. Keep up the good work. re: the hitbox. I noticed that it only glows/becomes visible when it is near a bullet. I think it works fine, once you realize there is a reason or system to it appearing to blink on and off.
Just DLed the update, but have yet to play. Sounds like its a solid update though. Thanks for taking the time and updating the game, much appreciated!
Wow, the update is really great! I love this game, and it's way better with powerups and *ahem* an easier mode for those of us who aren't up to the harder modes. And there are some pretty cool surprises and tweaks in the levels that I enjoyed running across (and running into). Excellent work on this dev! I strongly recommend anyone who likes shooters in the slightest to pick this one up!
The free demo version of Icarus-X is now available for download! Look out for promo code giveaways and exclusive news on Icarus-X and our upcoming game on The Quadsphere's Twitter account. Here's a sneak peek of the first Retina Display tests on Icarus-X:
Having played most (possibly all?) of the retro shooters dating back to the 80s, even the obscure ones that you've never heard of (Project X, T-zero0 .. google it), I've concluded you're full of shit. Slow? Poorly-Designed Bullet Patterns? Dude, you're wearing some serious hate... Did you actually play it at all, or are you basing that entirely on their terrible screenshots?
Aaaaaw, please don't start some flamewar here! I for one love Assault Squadron, one of the best and most complete shoot'em up on the App Store.
Well said! This is a thread for Icarus-X. The screenshots make me want to buy iphone 4 now. I can only imagine how great the game would look on a small screen.
Just released a universal update with iPad and Retina Display support. Here is the full update list: * Retina Display for the iPhone 4 * High resolution textures for all devices * Preliminary iPad support * Fast app-switching (iOS 4 only) * New Award: "Double Rainbow! All The Way!" * Optimisations * Fixed a bug with hit sounds Hope you like it!
Wow, awesome job Quadsphere. Great value to get this game for 99 cents, especially with the retina display support. I cannot recommend it more highly for anyone looking for a fast and furious vertical shooter.
