Wait! Give a few of us just a *little* more time to take an honest crack at it first -- purdy please? On the contrary, I think the timing is absolutely *perfect*. For many of us, enjoying Espgaluda II to the degree that we have has only left us that much hungrier to discover every great iPhone shooter available (and according to my standards, that's an extremely short list thus far). At the same time, the release of Icarus-X comes just far enough behind the release of Espgaluda II that many of us (iPhone users, at the very least) have had enough time to work through the latter and start wishing for more great iDevice shumps, such as the former, to be released. Of course, in my case it was actually Icarus-X that recently renewed my passion for truly great shoot 'em ups, and therefore prepared me to fully enjoy Cave's release, not the other way around.
These ideas came to me while playing a bit, but just a warning: They're pretty cheap: 1. Maybe instead of having to do the level all over again when you die, make it so you come back alive at the Warning screen. 2. You have the ability to unlock missiles, but I still can't figure out how to use them. So maybe make it a button on the screen or something, for stupid people like me that can't find how to fire them off 3. I don't know if the missiles make you invincible, but in games like these, some people like to have something to fall back on if they get in a tight spot. Bombs would be a good idea. Clear the screen of the bullets and enemies, and become invincible for a couple seconds. That would be a nice idea. Maybe every time someone uses a bomb, take off 5% of their score or something to that extent. 4. I notice when you die, the screen is not cleared of bullets. I think this would be a great thing to add into the game. If you get hit and die, clear the screen of bullets, just so someone (again, stupid like me) doesn't get caught in the same stream of bullets, and die almost instantly after being respawned. 5. This isn't a comment regarding the balancing of the difficulty, but is there any way you could add an Options menu into the game? I know there is an Options menu, but it's only accessible from the Main Menu. It would be nice to be able to access it from inside the game so that you can turn on and off the music, dial up and down the sound effects... I think that would be a nice thing to have, just so I don't have to kick myself out of the game to get to it. That's all the comments/tips I have for now. I will be back with a few more, though, so keep an eye out for me. I will strike without notice I hope these help give you a couple ideas
@MasterChief3624: that is great feedback, thanks a lot! I will definitely implement some of those in the upcoming update. I have located the problem and just fixed it. Thanks for reporting it
Some ideas: -After you die, enemies become idle for a few seconds and bullets freeze in midair? -A downloadables page where you can pay like $1.00 each to get more continues or more ship lifes, infinite missle usage for one level, a 2d texture etc. It'd make the game easier and more fun, as well as keep your wallet happy! -Ship Customization -Make it so when a boss takes out one of lives, the bullets it fired can't harm you longer than the rate for normal enemies. *^.^
Being able to buy high scores in a game is never a good idea. Paying for DLC or something, sure, but extra continues or unlimited weapons would destroy the scoreboards. Maybe if it prevented you from uploading anything (including replays) while running them, like a sort of trainer mode, but otherwise... ew. <_<
The continues wouldn't as when you die your score starts from 0 again, but agreed on the rest. Would be nice to implement but only if there are like "custom" scoreboards with no effect on normal ones.
Well, you summed up my thoughts on the matter perfectly. I'd rather make it easier for everyone. Here are the changes in the upcoming update: * Easy mode has slightly weaker enemies * Easy mode now has a 5 lives maximum * The last 2 Bosses are easier on every mode * Renamed "Play Again" option to "Restart Game" to avoid confusion * Pop Up Message when you earn an Award * Music now properly pauses when pausing * Other small bug fixes And last but not least: * When you game over at a Boss, you will now restart at the warning signal when chosing Continue. If you pick Save and Quit though, you will have to retsart from the beginning of the level. Let me know what you think, I will submit this update very soon!
Seconded. I noticed that, as in Espgaluda II, the ship's hit box is actually smaller than the ship itself. One suggestion would be to define exactly where the hit box is, making it easier to dodge masses of bullets. Update sounds great.
Wow ... Just wow ... Thank you so much. You Sir, just made my day. I wish I had such a review here on TA. May I copy/paste it here ?
This was 2 bucks down the drain. It doesn't come close to how it's being advertised. On top of that, the dev apparently responds to negative reviews by deleting user data, which is highly uncool - will be lowering to one star.
What ?! What do you mean deleting user data ? I'm sorry you don't like the game However, you should not accuse me of something i'm unable to do! I don't have access to user data, how could I delete it? It could be a bug, but I won't be able to fix it if you don't describe your problem properly.
I finally broke down and bought this last night, mainly cuz I got Fargoal for free and figured I could afford to buy an extra game. Only played a minute or two, but it's pretty cool and the replay downloading is brilliant. It's not Ikaruga, despite some visual style similarities, but it's a good SHMUP. And it will help me deal with STILL not being able to play ESPGaluda which I paid for over a week ago now.
