Plasma Sky looks great! Tiny download too, and iCade support looks to be complete. I'm grabbing it! Also, one I haven't grabbed yet: I see the Raiden Legacy compilation is on sale (or maybe dropped permanently). http://appshopper.com/games/raiden-legacy
That is the understatement of the Century, Plasma Sky may well be THE best icade game ever. One of the top ios games now with 5 joystick settings. It is complete, works well, been playing the build now for 5 days now, solid as a rock. Only problems are you have to exit and enter to start icade and you can't enter your high scores cause of the missing key board, but these are icade bugs. A couple of major dev friends of mine helped, and with that it made the whole implementation easier. You will like, let me know what you think. The update will be out hopefully this weekend. Edit: raiden legacy is great with icade. I worked with dotemu on that and Blazing star too to put in instantaneous touch controls.
Pinball iCade support continues: Pinball Arcade (Arabian Nights, + others via IAP). Portrait and landscape both. http://appshopper.com/games/pinball-arcade (That's three iCade pinball titles now that I can think of, including Kingpin which didn't seem that great, and Zaccaria which I don't own.)
That is a good question. In Plasma Sky, I have played touch very very little, cause I like the icade version so so so so so much better. I tried to ask the developer to add a separate leaderboard for icade users, but it was too hard to implement. But I have been curious myself, would figure icade would lose out easily cause it is not true joystick, but rather a simulated bluetooth keyboard. However, the stick does play a factor, it is great playing with a stick like on the icade core. My gut feeling is touch is far better for high scoring, but I dunno. i will try a very unscientific test tonight and play 3 games on each, and see which I do better. Problem is, this game is kinda random how well I do everytime I play, so might not mean much. But I am curious what you others think, I think the update will be out this weekend, so we can compare results whether touch is better than icade for high scores. But I guarantee you one thing, icade joystick is about 20 times better than touch controls for fun. Don't even enjoy playing touch anymore. There is no comparison, in my humble opinion.
Will download and try it later tonight when I get home, that other pinball game zaccariat or whatever, works good, with the outside buttons to flip the flippers. Kinda requires moving the ipad all the way to the right in the icade core slot, but doing this, makes it feel like a real pinball game. Couldn't find a way to tilt the zac game though.
Plasma sky update is out with icade 5 speed setting support!!! Come to the main thread and show your icade support to the developer! http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2788476#post2788476
Not working for me either. Edit: Found answer here http://pinballarcadefans.com/archive/index.php/t-168.html Main options page has iCade toggle if you scroll down.
Reprinted from Plasma Sky thread Volbard, I had to delete and reinstall to get the new build. The default controls was set to high. Why? Shouldn't it default to normal? Normal I think is the best for both touch and icade. High maybe a little fast for most players. Anyway, fyi. Also, all icaders, you can set in the joystick options, low, normal, high, highest, and max. The ship will move different speeds depending on which setting you use. I like slow and normal myself, so make sure to try out all the sensitivity settings cause each makes the game play differently. Also to get icade to start, exit out of the game and reenter. Type in your name for the high score when your icade isn't attached or cancel out. Anyone got a good idea yet which is easier for high scores, joystick or touch? And which do you prefer in terms of fun?
Man, that game sucks to get it work. You can only get to that setting from the main page, then you gotta know to scroll, the you gotta know how to close it down and restart. Man, without the docs, most people would 't figure it out. Too confusing! Works fine though, once you figure it out. Red button left flipper, white button right, and joystick to do the plunger.
Me giving Exact Psience a hard time about buying an icade core. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2788849&postcount=32
Yeah, not too many like Don't run with a plasma sword. Too bad all endless runners couldn't use icade. I know that even if it is one button or two, it still would be hella cool to be able to play with a joystick. Gotta figure that many endless runners would be easy to code in icade, cause you really don't need the joystick in a lot of games. Let me know what you think about the 5 icade speed settings in plasma sky. If we need to finetune it some more, I am sure the developer will work with us.
I tried Plasma-Sky, but man, I'd need a super-easy mode to make this as fun as it is with touch controls. The game is obviously balanced for touch, and I don't think there's any sensitivy setting that can approach that Still a very highly recommended game though and everybody should pick it up.
Yeah, it is definitely harder with an icade, though, me personally, I like that cause I found it too easy on touch mode. I mentioned it to the dev alittle, but he mentioned to try the other game modes too. Also, there are like infinite continues so hardness doesn't play as much as a factor. So for high scoring, yeah, probably touch is better. You did try the normal joystick sensitivity setting right? Do you find it funner than playing on touch? Oh, and post a post in the main thread as well asking for an easy mode, maybe he will look into it harder.
Thanks guys--I would never have figured out how to get iCade working in Pinball Arcade! They must handle input in some weired way: when the iCade sleeps, the onscreen keyboard pops up. Doesn't happen in most iCade games (and they don't have to be manually enabled). This is also a problem because when you're away from your iCade, the onscreen keyboard covers the menus and you cannot exit iCade mode. That said, the menus respond to iCade which is nice. EDIT: it's all messed up. The menus only work occasionally (this is on iPhone/HDMI) and the red/white buttons do nothing; the black buttons, stacked vertically, do the flippers. Must be assuming iCade Jr? I guess that makes sense, but I'll have to skip the projector and just use the iPad. (I'll see if I can contact them and suggest enabling the red/white buttons as well even on iPhone.)
Please read this: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=182425&page=45 Since it kind of surprised me that the default icade speed setting was set to high, I now propose this as a solution, please post on the plasma sky thread about what you think. Thanks.
