Just got my 8-bitty, works straight away with gridlee but Spectaculator keeps telling me icade not found? Any ideas?
I didn't realise you could press up to accelerate as I have always used button. Definitely recommend using the button!
One frustrating thing about icade is trying to figure out what the buttons do and how to get icade to work with each game. Anyone know if there is a faq that has this info?
I'll keep those titles in mind! (Some I have.) My problem with scrolling shooters is I can't see what's going on! I like Blazing Star at first and then I can't see what I'm dodging in the midst of the lightshow. The best shooters for "hard core" aficionados might not be for me! But I keep going back. Speaking of which, EnbornX (endless horizontal boss fights) is on sale currently. EDIT: Despite the reviews that report EnbornX won't load, it does load on my iPad 2 and iPhone 5, and works with iCade on both. First reaction: fun and nice-looking, although the 3 weapon buttons don't hide with iCade (D-pad does hide), and the menus (touch-only) act weird: sometimes fail to register a tap, and there's no Pause menu to access without dying. (You can pause by going to the home-screen but don't wait too long: your game state is not saved for multitasking. However, you can at least receive a call safely, and at least there's always a Continue button when starting a new game, so you're not back at Boss 1. Losing your game is a scoring issue, then.) Also, not fullscreen on iPhone 5. The weapon buttons aren't really in the way, luckily, since are far from your character. (At first I thought they needed to be there to indicate your current weapon, but you can see that on your character itself.) You use the stick plus three buttons to play--in an odd config but workable: top-red is the high-power charged weapon, and the two bottom blacks are your shield and low-power spread weapon (which, according to a video I just saw, does less damage but earns more points). I'd have rather had 3 buttons in a row or used both reds, but the way the iCade button rows are curved, plus the fact that you only use one of the three weapons at a time, makes it work OK. (I did lose iCade control when messing with the touch-control config, but it came back.) I like having the 3 weapons available all the time without limits. The charged weapon seems to ALSO be a shield, but not against the biggest death-ray the boss has? (I also grabbed Lemegeton free from the same dev, but haven't tried it yet. All I know so far is, it has bad translations and iCade support!) I can help with that question! The answer is no Each game really should have some kind of simple help image when it detects iCade. But I'll take "blind" iCade support over none at all! The worst is when I discover the pause button by accident, and then the exit-to-menu button! Game over. (A basic iCade diagram would help somewhat even for users of other bluetooth sticks: they'd have to get used to the digram being wrong, but it would always be wrong the same way!)
I've always wondered how the infinity blade's would run on an icade. Exploration elements would naturally be touch screen but I bet the combat would be interesting.
Enbornx worked fine on my ipad 3 ios 6.1.3 with my icade core. But I didn't care too much for it. Gameplay was too slow for me... Currently Danmaku 2 and Metal Slug x are my favorite shooters.
Super Soccer Champs 2013 now supports iCade! Hi, just wanted to let you know that SSC2013 now supports iCade (and other blue tooth joysticks / joypads) from version 2.0, which is hitting the App Store right about now!
Kind of late to the iCade core discussion, but I modded mine a bit. I changed the joystick to an actual Sanwa JLF stick (same used in Mad Catz Tournament sticks and actual arcade cabinets) and changed the button switches to softer Cherry switches. I did have to cut the wires for the stick, but I just soldered and heat-shrinked the wires to the JLF wiring to the stick. The button switches were thankfully a straight swap. This makes the stick and buttons more resposnive, and the buttons are definitely less clicky. I did a similar mod to my iCade cabinet as well, but I changed those buttons to Happ buttons. I wanted to use Sanwa buttons for both of these mods, but it would involve dremelling the holes larger and I didn't want to make a mistake, and I'm fine witht he buttons with the new switches. Anyone interested in such mods, here are the links of what I bought: Sanwa JLF - http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-jlf-tp-8yt-joystick/ Sanwa - JLF cable - http://www.focusattack.com/5-pin-wiring-harness/ Cherry switches - http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/microswitches/59-50-gram-micro.html Sure the JLF was the cost of the Core alone from the Groupon deal (I had a spare, and always keep switches on hand for my arcade cab), but the feel of it is comparable to one of my many arcade sticks. If anyone wants more details and a how-to, I can try to write something up.
Jelloman, Does your joystick handle rotate like the original core? If you get a chance, can you post a picture of it?
Why thank you! I am more then happy to join the ranks of iCade gamers! I can't wait to play some more on this thing!
Hey guys just updated the list again. As always, if you notice a game with iCade support that isn't on the list, PM me and post in this thread as well http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2657301#post2657301 The Other Brothers confirmed to be updated with iCade support, will update list when its updated. Also does any one know if this ended up getting updated?
The other bros dev says on next update probably within 2 weeks. It will be sweet, as pictured. I am trying to get the developer to add an opacity setting too. Dev from duke nukem 2 is reporting that he too will be adding icade support soon.
The sounds of chip tunes and deafeningly loud button clicking will be echoing down the hall way on its release
I look forward to playing the other brothers on hdmi tv with my icade core. Everyone get it quick cause it is 99 cents, but will be going up in price pretty soon! Cool game, it will be awesome playing on my icade core.
