Iron Frost is currently free: http://appshopper.com/games/iron-frost Plays much like classic Lode Runner, which is a good thing! Background wheels move, which is distracting (they ought to be dimmer) but you get used to it. It has ads, but not during game play. At first, the description made me think you only got 10 levels, which would be a triple whammy: you pay, AND you get ads, AND you have to pay to unlock the full game. But actually it's only a double whammy: pay with ads. (And today, free with ads!) You DO get what I'd consider the full game automatically. The IAP expansion pack seems like it unlocks a level editor, no-enemies mode, and additional (50?) levels. Not sure whether it disables ads. But without the expansion pack, the game still seems complete to me: you get 50 levels of normal mode, and 10 levels of no-enemies mode (which sounds too easy, but if it's like LR, puzzle elements will add challenge to later levels). iCade is detected automatically, and works in the menus.
Please see the HDMI thread for alot of hdmi/icade pictures, and I will be doing a through review of the icade core, iphone 4 with joypad app, and Gameloft duo gamer joystick, since I own all 3 now. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2717506#post2717506 The icade core is amazing though, please go to the hdmi thread to read some of my reports that I will be posting in the next couple of days. And for any icade folk, give hdmi a try, it works wonders with my icade core. I love both. Cheers.
So is the iCade Core quieter than the original? I ordered one through the sale and was just wondering
I never had the original, but the icade core can be kinda noisy. Wonder if it would bother a sleeping person. Maybe.
That's my main concern. I don't want to bug me family if I'm playing it late at night. Oh well... I'll probably update the list in the next day or so by the way.
Yeah, played some intense games with button mashing, and it is way noisy. If it is a heavy sleeper, it maybe ok, but for a light sleeper, it would wake them up. Good thing that icade is portable, maybe play in the kitchen or bathroom?
The buttons are definitely noisy! Fortunately they are easy to change. The main problem with the original buttons are except for the noise that they are hard to press and the long throw makes it difficult to tap quickly in a shooter for example. The problem with the original joystick is mostly the stiff spring. You have to use quite a lot of force to move it. Ok, I guess it is a bit noisy as well...
Noise isn't a problem necessarily--just ask if they would be OK sleeping in an 80s video arcade. If they say No, then maybe you have a problem P.S. Just noticed one little feature I like about the full iCade vs. the Core: easy to tell when it has gone to sleep (making the onscreen keyboard work again) because the "25¢" light goes out. I'm trained to watch for that! Seems like I always need the keyboard right after I bump the stick...
Hi guys is it possible to use "The Temple Run OZ" on iCade? I say that the "Temple Run" is compatible.. Thank for any reply...
It is easy to tell on the core, there is a red light on the top that turns off and on, so it is pretty easy to tell...
Hi all, I am friends with a lot of developers that want to add icade support to their games, but we are kind of clueless how to implement it. Where can I refer these developers too? How can they get instructions how to code icade into their games? Anyone on here a developer that wouldn't mind assisting any developers to add icade (just simple questions via pms)? Thanks for any info, I think I can pursuade some games to go icade, but got no idea where to point them. Thanks.

Thanks, laxking. Oh--very nice. I had thought that was just another dot of red paint, from the pictures, but now I see. Can't wait to get my Core! Groupon said it could be a couple weeks (odd).
Yeah, icade core is awesome, it is almost perfect in a lot of ways. Synchs fast with my ipad, and the red light confirms the synching which is nice. Okay, all icaders, especially active posters in this thread... Especially you Adams Immersive. I have started getting some of the developers to add icade support to some games. I need to assemble a group of about 5 people that really love icade to beta test some games. I've already gotten 2 developers to add icade, and at some point, I will try to reach out to Ion themselves for help with our group. Should be a lot of fun, and if anyone wants to help, please post here or pm me. Will expect a fairly good participation level, and it would be perfect for some of you hardcore icaders. I will try to pursuade the developers to add us to the credits if the game has it, and a free promo code to the final release. Please only serious inquiries only, actually prefer people that have posted numerous times in this thread, but if you have a great desire, let me know. Thanks. I hope to be able to help with testing at some point. Right now, I'm so busy with various things that I'm making no headway releasing my own games (one was playable on iPhone years ago, never completed! but I keep paying my dev fee and will get back to it soon) so I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.
