    Activision Atari 2600 bundle?

With today's release of the Activision Atari 2600 bundle (including the good old Pitfall and not the current Temple Run version) it would be good to know if it supports iCade.
Need to check this evening but my hopes are not very high at this moment (no mention in the description or press release etc.)

Yep - this works for me lovely on Metal Slug 3 and Blazing Star. As soon as the game starts and your man lands on the water hit the home tab then the game icon then just waggle the joystick.

What is this Activision Atari 2600 bundle of which you speak? (I see nothing in the App Store.) Have more games been added to Atari’s Greatest Hits? I can’t remember how many games were in there before!

But I see they’re doing some kind of Greatest Hits free promo again, 8/31 and 9/1.

It's a new one with Pitfall and the like. Activision Anthology. Free with £4.99 unlock for all games. Many thanks for letting us know about Qwak HD. The Activision one is fantastic.

Keep an eye on the ipod games thread ! Every wednesday at 11am GMT the new NZ games are shown, was exciting to see the Activision Anthology app appear. I think its brilliant

It works brilliantly with the iCade, i'll be buying Qwak HD soon as well.

    Activision Anthology

Very good app using the iCade, After playing about seven games the iCade seems to drop out, but a quick reboot of Activision Anthology fixes this problem, also keeping the high scoring is great.

Very nice! I've only tried the bomb game (which is probably better without iCade due to analog control) but I’m tempted to grab the bundle. 100 retro games for $7? Hard to say no.

What I REALLY want is for iOS Intellivision to emerge from stagnation  I never had a 2600, although I played some of those. But I had an Intellivision, and would love to play some Night Stalker, Vectron, Sea Battle and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (a.k.a. Licensing Nightmare 2000) again! And not on the iPhone but on the big pad.

Have you found a way to play the games in portrait mode? While it does respond to the iCade controls, it's not really "compatible" if you have to play the games sideways...

Nope - only works landscape as far as I can tell but still works okay in iCade. Same as old school tellies really I suppose.

I guess you have a higher annoyance threshold than I do then :) Tried it last night, but having to move the joystick left/right to move something on the screen up/down is just a bit too much cognitive load for my old brain.

Wait a minute. Does your iPad not slot into the iCade horizontally too? There's a lip on the iCade that you just rest it on. Unless it's one of the iCade Core onea that I've not seen yet.

Nope. Regular iCade, regular iPad (1st gen), but the iPad is a good half-inch too wide to fit in the cabinet horizontally.

Sh*t - my iPad1 is the one I keep all my iCade games on and it fits horizontally/landscape too. I got my iCade over a year or so ago but they may have changed the design but that seems a bit strange. So you can't play Mos Speedrun or anything like that. Don't know what to suggest.

There should be a slot just in front of the cabinet opening. I just bought an ION iCade off of Amazon a few days ago, and it has that slot just in front so that my iPad1 can sit in it and rest against the cabinet (the iPad won't fit inside).

Yep - a good place to look is the Mikey Shorts thread where Mike G has posted a pic of Mikey Shorts running landscape on the iCade. I don't know how to post links but I'm sure Mike can.
