I just went through all my games to try them on the iCade. While MAME obviously is fantastic I was extremely surprised by Silverfish MAX. It works like a dream with the iCade... and it is a fantastic game anyway.

Strongly recommended if it's not in your collection already.!

Jungool 1.2 recently added iCade support. Please add it to the list of supported games. Thanks!

Is it possible to get Super smash brothers (used to play that when I was a kid) on the icade? If you can, then I am totally getting my iPad jailbroken.

Hahaha, I know! I think he's talking about the N64 original though, but even that makes me feel old.

The N64 emulator isn't that stable, and can't play many games very well. It isn't iCade compatible either so to answer your question, no SSB won't work very well if at all on your iPad. It's better for retro systems such as NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, GBA, GBC ect ect.

I love the iMAME which was available for a few days on the AppStore but I am unable to map any specific buttons with the icade. There is an options menu for this but it does not register the iCade buttons. Any hints?

Are you telling it to use all available buttons when you start the game, or leaving it on the default of two?

    iCade support ...

I am busy building iCade support into my game (An Alien Annihilation). What I am trying to decide is whether to make it part of my IAP. Looking for some feedback. Would you pay $1 for iCade support (as part of other features) ? Or would you download a free game (space shooter like Galaga) instabuy if you saw it was iCade compatible ? PM thoughts please.

What I would do is make it an update for the game. I think people are less likely to buy an IAP for icade support when they dished out $100 already for the iCade and then some depending on the game.

Sure, if it was a cool enough game and the controls worked well I'd pay $1 for that; but I'd also download the free game too and check that out.

Wow...thanks so much for all the great info!
I would never have thought that I could be playing all my ol' favs from back in the day on my great new iCade, without even having to JB! It's great that they are full screen and you don't see the controls.
Love the test screens when they boot up & all!
Truly amazing to get to play all these great games again!
    Damn I love technology! :D

It would be weird to buy it as an IAP (would Apple even allow you to advertise that?) but i'm buying most games which do have iCade support, so would generally be happy to pay for a game with it.

I guess if the game itself were free and the iCade support was an add-on, I would be cool with that. No way I would pay for an app and then ALSO pay for iCade compatibility. I'm like everyone else that is buying up almost every iCade game that comes out, but some of them are kind of dumb. It would be nice to try a game out even without iCade controls and then only pay to add them if I like the game. But again, I wouldn't pay twice. Almost out of principle, in fact.
