Silverfish MAX is currently discounted. I can't wait to get my iCade at xmas. This thread has really helped me collect games for it in prep. Going to add Wizard Ops to my watch list now.
Pac man When I got home I noticed PAC Man had an update. I said to myself maybe just maybe it will have Icade controls. I tried it and as shocked and surprised it worked. I still can't believe finally PACMAN.
Bandai Namco Pacman is now ICade compatible!!!!!!!!! Yes! Pacman is now compatible with iCade!....there was an update today 12/7/11 and although it did not say what the update was for, I decided to give it a try and it WORKS!!!, unfortunately Mrs. Pacman is not compatible, but now they took a step and we might see all of Bandai Namco game being updated soon. I'm totally excited about this.
Dang it!! I was crap at PAC-MAN in the arcades as a kid, and I'm sure I'll be even worse at the game today, but I cannot resist... Bought..
Thanks for letting us all know ! Just bought it and played it, great old skool fun ! Change the controls to 'swipe' and that way you wont get the joystick in the corner. iCade works whatever you choose to control it with, great Namco have got on board and done that, hope they add similar controls to Rally-X and their other games. I've got Pacman on my ipod but i've bought it on the ipad due to Namco adding iCade support (as promised in my signature !) Remember to support other icade games, Wizard Ops is excellent and works very well with the iCade controls, just been playing that one now
Yeah, Rally-X would be awesome if it had iCade support! The touch controls just doesn't work well in that game.
I also found that if you put it on the classic (original) mode instead of "easy" or "normal" it runs much faster as the original did

Pacman on iCade feels like a game changer to me. Those guys are not too far from Capcom or EA or any of the giants. If it can get to the point where arcade games start saying 'of course I am programing in iCade controls, do you think I am an idiot?' then I feel like the iCade almost becomes it's own system. I pretty much treat it that way now. I talk about the thing like the Genesis vs. Super Nintendo war of the early 90's. I am hoping this is the start of getting some name brand games.
Just updates PAC man. I don't really update apps if they just say additional enhancements and stuff, but thanks for telling me! I can't wait to get my iCade. I saw space invaders HD, and it says it has support for arcade cabinet, but I think it is only the space invaders arcade cabinet. Is there a difference?
I always run the updates. Plus theyre not 'meant' to mention icade support so the update will never say that, might say 'additional controls' or something
What's inside an Ion iCade? Basically real arcade parts but of a lower quality than what's inside my real Japanese arcade machine. It shouldn't be too difficult or expensive to really upgrade the parts on this thing to proper arcade standards. More pics in the above link. Mods please move or delete this post if its against the rules etc. .
^Interesting to see I used to own an arcade machine but i'm impressed with the iCades buttons, for $60 i didnt think they would go with top of the range LCD arcade buttons or that ! Think the buttons on the icade are fine for me But i love the iCade, brilliant piece of kit
Absolutely the iCade buttons and stick are damn good for the price. I just like to mess around with stuff and I have a few spare proper arcade buttons lying around from an upgrade I did on my real arcade machine the other day. .
Yeah i was sad when i sold my own MAME cabinet, had a bartop one. Went to a retro show in England last month and saw an amazing mini bartop , was tempted but in the end went with the cheaper iCade as i had an iPad My friend used to make them, some of those transparent buttons which light up were excellent. Good to see the inside and its similar to other MAME cabinets, must be pretty easy to change the buttons, looking forward to seeing pics when you've done that
By the way i had a reply from Namco when i said thanks for adding iCade to Pacman, now what about the others "We are currently looking into supporting other application with the iCade peripheral. Unfortunately, we cannot make any guarantees. We recommend checking the text under the Whats New in Version 2.5.0 to see if Bluetooth support has been added. "
Yeah it should be handy enough to swap out the buttons as soon as I confirm the type they've used in it. The easiest mod if you can call it that is to change the ball top on the joystick itself to another colour or even a different shape top.
