I guess this thread is dying (and hope that the platform is not)... Anyway, I use the old phone case trick and attach successfully my iPhone5 for iCade Mobile. It will not appeal for style but it works. The only problem I find the swirl base is soft and it is stressed when removing the phone off the controller.
Thanks for the interest. Here's the trailer that shows snippets of gameplay: Note that the iCade update isn't live in the store yet, but hopefully will be up in a week or so.
I hope not. At least for now the iCade is a better controller solution than dedicated (and overpriced) iOS 7 controllers, IMO. Thankfully developers keep adding iCade support to their games. And it seems like such a simple addition. All we can do is keep asking. As long as iCade hardware is out there, so are the potential customers. My iCade Core arrived the other day and I love it. I might even sell my full-size iCade, because there isn't any reason to use it. Though it does look cool. Now to save some money so I can replace the stick and buttons.
The new Super Splatform update just went live, with full iCade support, including all menus, and even the pause button See my signature for the link. All four of our games now have iCade support, and as soon as the P1XL Party update goes live, all four will have full Universal / iPhone 5 support too. We also added a new game to the P1XL Party collection.
Not sure if this has been mentioned, at first I thought this was a MFi controller but when I looked at the compatibility list it looks exactly like the icade compatibility list http://gamephonecontroller.com/en/
Just re-checked Pac-Man apps I've seen a bunch of Pac-Man changes in recent months, and it looks like the iPad version has been discontinued (in favor of the iPhone one becoming Universal--and currently free). So, for what it's worth, I just did some iOS 7 testing--all looks good: - The former iPad-only Pac-Mac still works in iOS 7, and has iCade support. Ditto the Lite iPhone version. - The newly-revamped Universal (formerly iPhone) version also has iCade support. - I checked Ms. Pac-Mac on iPhone: iCade support still works there too. (So I assume it's true of the iPad version also; Ms. Pac-Mac has not gone Universal.)
It's a nice version too. Swipe controls work well if not using iCade. There are also extra mazes through IAP.
Yes--I was a little alarmed by the IAP and "continues," but the classic Pac-Mac game is intact with no IAP needed, and the other mazes are playable free for one level as a taste. I have no problem with that. The new Universal version has better upscaling too: the maze walls and other pixels used to be irregular. And I think the view is larger than before when in landscape? And the Easy mode (5 lives) may be a recent addition? A nice set of updates all around--although I miss the old cabinet art that used to surround the screen in landscape. Pac-Man is not my favorite game ever, but for me it's the poster child for iCade retro red-ball gaming!
Way back in 2009 I downloaded Pac-Man and found the swipe controls were brilliant - gave me hope that touch screen gaming wouldn't be so terrible. That inspired the control scheme in RPG Quest - Minimae. And for everyone: The new update / relaunch of our iCade-compatible game collection P1XL Party just went live tonight; it has a new game, and is fully Universal / iPhone 5 optimized too. All four of our games in my signature are iCade compatible.
i download this new Pac-Man game to use with the iCade, love it but the controls are a little slow with icade. Mabey a setting for a 4 way stick and not an 8 direction. i downloaded all the maps and love them too
Has anyone here picked up the iMpulse Controller? I have been following it for awhile. I like the size, but only 6 buttons is concerning. Considering the iCade protocol layout calls for 8 buttons, what buttons are left out on the iMpulse? And what is the button layout? I don't want to drop $40 U.S. on another 8bitty...
Have you looked into the SteelSeries Stratus? It uses the new MFi standard that is Apple endorsed in iOS 7. It's expensive but supposed to be good.
Stealth, Inc, with the iCade Core and works brilliantly. I have an iPad 2, ios 5.x, and I can't get Samurai Shodown 2 to work with the thing. Table Top Racing works without issue, Metal Slug 3 works fine after hitting the home button, but nothing seems to work for SS2. Am I missing something? Everything I google indicates it should work without any trickery. Thanks!
That is really strange. SS2 should work without any trickery. I can only recommend deleting and installing again.
