+1, Stanza is great - it already interfaces with most of the pay e-book sites (including Kindle) as well as the major free book sites (like Project Gutenberg)

You can even download a piece of software on your computer and convert files of various types to the ebook format and upload them to Stanza. I've done this with a number of reference documents I've written here at work so I can have them with me at all times.

It's a must-have for anyone with an iPhone/iPod Touch who likes to read.

Classics is currently free. It's been out for a while and I'd say iBooks borrows quite a bit from it. Lots of good books to read and the UI is amazing.

yeah, classics has a really nice ui but if youre serious about reading, stanza is better as there's more books you can get.

I'd have to agree. Stanza has been my favorite so far. And if you are a serious reader, download the computer application also. It allows you to transfer eBooks from your computer to your iPod.

It had been my impression from the unveiling that iBooks was an iPad only App. Did they ever mention it coming to the iPhone/Touch?

    No they didn't

Also, the ibook store uses the .epub standard so all the books you download via the ibookstore will be able to be read by stanza and many other apps (like air sharing and dropbox)

iBooks isn't an app, it's the name of the media like apps and podcasts. From the perspective of the iDevices, the iBook store would be the third major online retail service from Apple, after iTunes Store and the App Store.

So you have to wait until they announce the iBooks store service coming to iPhone/iPod touch. Like what the above posters said, get Stanza and Classics, they are great apps, and if you read mangas like I do, I would also suggest you get ComicZeal Comic Reader.

Get Calibre instead. It handles Stanza file transfers better than the Stanza desktop application.

Wattpad is the best because you can upload your own books really easily.

yeah i downloaded classics, free, to celebrate apple using its layout. or inspired by it.

i cant remember the name of another ebook reader but it was pretty good. the more you tilt the ipod the faster the page scrolled. was so much better than manulle pushing the page up.. or changing pages.. just keep tilting the idevice.. was great for reading. however, i deleted it after i finish reading Dracula and now i cant find it.

    pout.
