    Anybody tried this site? http://iwl.me/

I am not sure how accurate it could actually be - but I tried it with two things I had written previously, and then two new pieces that I wrote into it.

    The results I got were:

1st Piece - David Foster Wallace
2nd Piece - David Foster Wallace
    3rd Piece - Dan Brown
    4th Piece - Stephen King
5th Piece - David Foster Wallace

Thanks for bringing this up. I'mma switch over to my laptop (where I have my school papers saved) and try it out! Personally, I'd take a guess that my writing is more like Stephen King, but we'll see!

yeah no problem, its a cool site - I wouldn't have guessed my work to read like David Foster Wallace (being that I still haven't tackled reading Infinite Jest), but I guess I'll take it as a complement :)

Well I put in an excerpt from THE STAND, and it didn't give me "Stephen King"...

I typed in random characters, copied and pasted them 17 times, and got David Foster Wallace. Me thinks they're trying to get me to buy their eBook.

First one said write like William Shakespeare (admittedly I posted an essay on Macbeth :p)

But for the second try, I posted my own short story and it said I write like Kurt Vonnegut (which I'm pretty proud of :)).
It actually scares me how accurate this thing is - I share quite a lot in common with Kurt Vonnegut.
I appreciate black humor, I am a strong atheist and skeptic, I'm interested in Science Fiction, and I'm even 1/4 German!

  12. I'm guessing this thing doesn't have a very big library of works to analyze. I made this up on the spot:

It told me I write like ... David Foster Wallace. David Foster Wallace must have an incredibly generic writing style.

I don't know - from everything I have heard about DFW he was very verbose and almost over articulate. His most successful book is a non-linear 1000+ page epic with footnotes on top of it - part of the reason I haven't got around to tackling it :p

    11th dimension
    I entered this :

Since im too lazy to think up something else....this post is dedicated too boredom. thats right... boredom. im so bored right now..i cant go outside ecause it like 95 degrees and it feels like 112. Not to mention my internet is being slow as hell. That all makes for a pretty crappy day.

Borden is like torture..all you can do is lay there and take it. The only way to cure it is too find something fun too do....and in Iowa..Fun is pretty rare. Not to mention scott is on vacation....so i have too talk to this Indian guy so i dont get lonely.

So the moral here is...bordem sucks..a lot. My advice : get drunk if your old enough..according to youtube..nothing is boring when your drunk. So until next time...bye

By the way, we are in need of writers...if you want to apply send us an email.

I'm going to give this a shot... I decided to write one on some dude who was bored then gets attacked by spies, snipers, etc., followed by a story about a zombie attack (of course), as well as a couple of reviews that I've written, from when I started leaving random reviews on GameSpot until now. I wonder how many times it'll tell me I write like David Foster Wallace.

EDIT: Just finished my first 2.5-3 paragraph story thing (which was admittedly pretty lame, I just needed something quick) and it said that I write like Chuck Palahniuk. Unfortunately, I accidentally closed the window before I could copy and paste the story here. I can give a quick summary if anyone wants to hear it though.

I just posted two of my later TouchArcade reviews, and both came up as David Foster Wallace. That must just be the default answer.

Apparently I write like Ian Fleming.

Not too sure what to think of that…
