Any of you remember this game from old Interplay/macplay? It was a pretty simple bitmap based 3D dungeon crawler RPG with magic and fighting, traps and puzzles. I feel like it would be perfect for the iphone's interface. I really want to see this game, or a game like it on iphone.

    hmm...

how much are you willing to pay for how much game time?

RPGs are one of those things that don't give enough replayability, and development time is huge for those things, so pricing is a significant issue

If they're done correctly, they can end up giving a lot more replay value than most other games.

There already is Dragon Bane 2 which is basically a dungeon master / Might and Magic clone.
Not sure anyone still has the rights/source codes to make a -real- Dungeon Master port

Dungeon master 1 and chaos stike back were a lot better than dungeon master 2 IMHO.

Anyway this is one of the best game ever , and it's not at all like Dungeon bane (who is more like a bard's tales clone)
In dungeon master it's a lot more about character management and awesom level design...

I have some plan to make a dungeon master like kind of game, (more like a Lands of lore ,with great graphics) but that'll be after we finish 1112 ans the other side project

I remember playing this on my mac, way back in the days!
A port would be awesome, maybe update the graphics a little, they are horrible by todays standards. ;)

Yeah Keeper was the RTS game. Master was an RPG game. I don't even care if the graphics stay the same. I just remember how fun the spellcasting was, those cool symbols, and experimenting with the symbols.

Grinding those Axe Berzerkers and selling the axes for cash ^_^

iPhone doesn't have a Java VM to my knowledge. To get that running, someone would need to re-code the whole thing in C++ or ObjC.

That's J2ME... not quite the full Java spec :)
    Interesting tool nevertheless.

    I tried this:

    http://blog.taragana.com/index.php/archive/how-to-install-compile-run-java-on-iphone/

Didnt realize it actually isnt a real Java VM.

But with some (minor?) code changes shouldnt this compile the source code on the iPhone?

Other solution would be to port DosBox to iPhone, hope that will happen anyway.

Well, you won't see DosBox since Apple doesn't allow VMs in the App Store.

not officially of course...but I see quite some emulators already

btw. I got the source code to compile, but it wont run...lacks Java AWT Toolkit. The same when trying to run the original classes with JamVM

    i always get those confused

dungeon keeper was fun, wasn't that a dungeon building game

i dont remember dungeon master, im sure if i saw it i would, but all that comes to mind with either of those two titles is that dungeon building cartoony game
