I was just wondering. Is Apples' Game of the Week a scam? I mean this week angry birds was shoved up there after barely a day, Last week some other game was shoved up there after a day (it was so good I forgot what it was, didn't get it though...) I remember now, it was some line drawing game with planes... p.s not saying it should be any different, it's just my thoughts and personal opinion Do like angry birds though lol
Seriously? Ok, no offense intended. All their GotWs are pretty big name releases, or ones that will make a lot of money. As far as Angry Birds goes - there's nothings bigger when it comes to iOS. Flight Control was also huge when the App Store was just a wee little thing - a remake would definitely warrant the attention. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean no one else will. And remember, the feature is intended as a spotlight - not as a "we've played this and it's awesome", which is why it goes up a day after the releases.
^I agree, if the game of the week was a total total unknown then you 'may' have a point specially if Apple did that week after week But Angry Birds will get downloaded a TON, Apple will make a lot from this, i'm not surprised its their game of the week as to many casual gamers its probably the game theyve been waiting for for years. I wish Apple focused on other great games out there as too many people seem to just think of iOS gaming and Angry Bird gimick puzzle games. But i dont think its a scam at all, just common sense with Angry Birds and the hype/sales it'll get
Well actually no offence taken because in most ways this does answer my question quite well so thank you for that. I actually like Angry Birds, just don't believe that Apple should jump the gun when it comes to game of the week. There have been a few bad ones in the past in my opinion though. I guess the title "This is the game of the week that we think will sell better than everything else which comes out until next week" would be more apt, but a mouthful at the same time. Makes sense.
Exactly ! Be great if Apple had a 'underated/not so popular game of the week which is actually very good but you probably wont download it as some people just stick to the big names only' of the week ! Even though the app store is a nightmare to go through when i first got my iOS device i used to love delving deep into it trying to find some 'hidden gems' which werent the big name titles but were still excellent. Reminds me of 'japanese werewolf' which is a great retro platformer which sadly hasnt sold well at all, to me thats one of the great gems you can discover
