Ok I've just beaten my high score, beat 6 worlds on Normal (and got nearly to the exit on the 7th), 3789. Am getting obsessed. It's amazing how much better the game is once you've learnt to play it...
I should perhaps try this game, it looks exciting

The pace of development here is keeping me piqued for the kind of growth we saw in Dungeon Raid, very happy with where things are going.
Totally agree. Even though it takes a while to get a full game in (Dungeon Raid does too, for that matter), it has that 'just one more game' appeal for me. I was 1 tile away from beating the 5th world on normal. Nemesis was level 9 and like 6 tiles behind me. I got all the keys I needed, but had no legal tiles to place on the exit. My only option was discarding and watching nemesis overtake me. That was probably the most strategic game I've played thus far as well. Barely escaping death several times. Toward the end, twice I got just out of nemesis' range and discarded to have him eat a special snag. Keeping nemesis in range is a double edged sword.
EDIT: Might be intended, but the super snag that ignores your shields when attacking still damages your shield.
For a brief, glorious period after the Game Center leaderboards were added, I was #2 overall in Easy and #4 overall in Normal. Now dropped well into double digits. Was fun being ahead while it lasted!
Balance tweaks seem good. I haven't yet run into Infestation again, but it sounds like it won't be a death sentence anymore.
Game Center? What was that again? Mine's been bugged for so long I can't remember what it was. #
FINALLY got past world 5... and 6 it so happened. And infestation was the snag that started my defeat. Having to discard to defeat it and wasting too much ATK and DEF on the spawns weakened me too much. Until that though I had a pretty good system going. Discarding hearts and normal snags (to not advance nemesis) and 1-shotting the super snags as they came up.
Yep, that's intended, defence decay still happens as normal, except for the snags that mention otherwise.
Bummer, this seems like a pretty common problem

Ugh. Infestation is still pretty much a show stopper. The spawns need to prevent upgrade gears instead of shields. I think I've been able to kill infestation once or twice, but I've never been able to recover from it. It's ALWAYS been a death sentence.
I ran into Infestation for the first time since the latest update with balance changes. I was on track to survive it, but it helped to kill me for a different reason... it can't be placed or discarded, so it gets stuck in the right slot.
I had a bunch of special snags in my hand, none of which could be discarded, so I couldn't drop Infestation's shields enough to place it. Two of those snags happened to be the same, a snag which causes your next two tiles to be blocks (can't be discarded or placed, can only drop off the right side). Well, running out of options, I placed them, and ended up in a situation where I had to use the Forfeit button.
Four blocks which couldn't be placed or discarded, and Infestation stuck in the right slot which also couldn't be placed or discarded. So I had no valid move but to forfeit. Screenshot:
Man. That's rough. I've never been forced to forfeit like that. The problem it usually poses for me is wasting ATK and DEF on the spawns, letting the other snag eventually kill me. It should replenish like half of all your stats if you kill him... and be worth 5 EXP... and knock nemesis down a couple levels. LOL. I hate that snag so much!
The spawns shouldn't reduce your attack any more (as of 1.0.2)?
??? Your ATK doesn't decrease when killing the spawns? I'll have to look for that. I could have sworn that happened. But maybe not.
Now I'm actually hoping to draw infestation. Lol
That was a stated tweak in the last update specifically for Infestation.
Gotcha. I didn't see that. Only the description in the app update that said it 'weakened infestation'. Good to know.
EDIT: Just ran into Infestation again and it indeed works as stated above. And I actually was able to beat it. And recover from it. #
