My highest on normal 2037 2nd serious game on Normal. A must is choosing to get a shield whenever it is lower than your attack.
Not sure if this is intended behavior, but attacking with 2 ATK doesn't decrease your ATK any, and defending with 3 DEF decreases your DEF by 2. The rounding doesn't seem consistent.
Rounding I have been watching how rounding is handled, and it is not consistent. That tells me that the value is stored to one or more decimal places behind the scenes, and it is being accurate tp that level of each calculation. I like that. I wouldn't change it.
It doesn't have anything to do with the decimal places. 1/2 of 3 = 1.5 (DEF example) and that is getting rounded up. 1/3 of 2 = 0.6667 (ATK example) and that is getting rounded down. If you round up at .5, you most definitely should round up at .6667. Although it hardly matters much after the beginning of the game.
Attack gets rounded up and defence gets rounded down, this is to ensure defence can decay to 0 and attack can't. Together with attack decaying by a third and only decaying if it's higher than the enemy's defence, that means that, given enough turns, you can always get any opponent to 0 health (and they can do likewise to you). The arithmetic gain and geometric loss of stats makes hoarding them super inefficient, and the rounding makes this hold even more true at the low end - e.g. in world 1 it's usually a waste to place any attack tiles (after the first), since most snags have 1/2 def & hp, so 2 attack is enough to take them out in 1 or 2 turns without spending any turns placing attack tiles that'll just decay away.
That makes sense. Can you explain the way nemesis advances from discarded tiles? Sometimes it seems like he moves to the next EXP drop. Sometimes he moves 1 tile.
If you click on the Nemesis you'll see that in the hover text that he'll move x number of spaces OR until it hits the next drop, which ever comes first.
Nemesis and Discard It is not which ever comes first. He moves one experience drop. It doesn't matter what his level is on discards. If there are no exp drops left, then he moves the spaces. Also, he moves the same no matter how many tiles you discard, so unless you are trying to gather a lot of experience, it is better to discard all of them you want to at once!
Same here. Especially since the tile designs are so cool! Very happy with the new tile placement setup.
Dear fireflame, Thank you for your efforts in designing and releasing this game. However, in the future, PLEASE consider doing a dungeon raid 2 (new app, new purchase), even if it's just a repolished / remastered version of the original! Sincerely, Everyone who's played dungeon raid
I agree, heck, I'd even happily re-purchase some Dungeon Raid Classic, which is just the same game with updated universal graphics and full iOS 9 compatibility.
Nice to see a review of the game on the front page. Even if Shaun didn't 100% love it, they review such a small percentage of the games on the App Store that it's probably good news to get one. As for me, I found out about the game from the TA podcast. I shared it with a few friends this past week, too, so you can chalk up a couple more sales I had another personal best game on Easy: 6 worlds, 15 levels, 15 items, 872 turns, 3842 points. My goal has been to get a few games in Easy where I had that feeling from Dungeon Raid where all your upgrades are working together well, and once I've achieved that, then I can move on to Normal. @fireflame, I really like the music. Did you create it or did you work with a musician? I'd love to buy a soundtrack.
Yeah, it is awesome to see reviews of the game, even critical ones. It's a big time investment to play through a game and write a thought-out opinion of it, I'm always grateful for the effort and it's an interesting read as far as knowing what works and where to focus the improvements. Awesome, thanks. These are great choices and I'll probably pick up some or all of them. Current personal best update: Easy same as my previous post, Normal: 4 worlds, 8 levels, 9 items, 543 turns, 2012 points.
Has anyone gotten past the 5th world? I can't seem to make it past that one, even on easy. The snag just get too powerful and too many.
I got to world 6 on Easy once, but since then I've been playing on Normal. I've only gotten to 4 there. More than once, what's killed me is the Infestation special snag. It shows up with some large number of shields, say 18, and then you can't place it until you've discarded 18 tiles, which by itself puts you at risk of Nemesis showing up. Meanwhile, while it's held, you don't get any more shields, *and* you get a constant in-flow of the little bugs. It's only annoying if it arrives early on, but if something like that appears in world 4 or 5, you're done.
