A bunch of GameCube games work on the Wii, you just need gamecube controllers.

Wii gets boring really fast and the motion controls are cheap and dull after awhile. When that happens, get some Gamcube games so the Wii doesn't collect dust like it does with most people eventually soon after.

I dont know if anyone has said this yet, but it matches your super violent remark in the first post.

Madworld. It was such an awesome game, too bad nobody bought it. On eBay for 5 bucks!

Personally I sold my wii, just spent too much time collecting dust. On occasion I find myself longing to play SSBB or NSMB or Madworld... but I get over it.

In addition to that game, get:

    SSBB
    NSMB
    Raving Rabbids

You'll probably love the Bowling game that came with it! Best of it's kind on any platform if you haven't already discovered it! You know, the Wii is kind of passe nowdays, what with the new Xbox and PS3's new technology which one-ups the Wii with it's motion game play. I'd recommend since you're on a budget, you get rid of the Wii and get an ipod touch. SO much more for your money and more and better games for it starting for free to Five dollars with most at $.99! Console games are so expensive and really no bang for your buck! Also the future of video games are all going from software to DLC. Hundreds of titles in your pocket! You can't beat it, IMHO!

You can be arrested for playing with your Wii in public. Also you can go blind, and you'll grow hair palms.

For good online games i recommend Mario Strikers Charged! although it has some glitches and not as big of community as it used to, its still a very fun game once you practice ;)
Other good online games include Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Onslaught is an alright game to get from the shop :p

I doubt you know what your talking about. I've had my wii for a year, and I'm constantly playing it. The motion controls are fine.

I say Dead Rising. I've not played on Wii but it's bound to be violent!
