I just added my redeem code from a gift card and it shows I have $25 credit. I bought a 99 cent game, and my cc got charged! The amount of $25 stayed the same. If I click the 'buy' button on any game, I still get the warning box, "if you buy this your credit card will be charged.' Anyone else have this problem or know what to do about it? I logged in again, restarted itunes, but it's still the same.
What? You're kidding. Why would that be? Great. I got $75 worth of gift cards for games and now I can't use them? The guy at the store assured us that they were good for game purchases. This pisses me off so much that I will probably refrain from buying any more games for the next two months. Sometimes, I really hate Apple.
You can't use them for apps. Music, yes. Movies, sure. Apps, you're SOL. Something to do with the Canadian tax laws and buying software or some pile of crap. Pissed me off, too. That's why I ultimately opened up a US account, so I could use US credit and redeem promo codes.
I just came back from the store that sold us this card, and they refused to give me credit for the other one that was not scratched. I said they had to soak up the loss because their employee told us it was okay for games. The guy tried to tell me that no ever complained about this and that I must have missed something. So, I let him use my account to try and buy a game with my credit. He says, "Pick a game you want. If it charges to your credit card, I'll credit you." I pick Civ revolution. Yes, it charged my card. After removing my CC card info from my account, trying to buy another game, and seeing that it still won't dock money off my credit, he finally begins to agree that you can't buy games in Canada. I finally got $50 store credit for the unscratched $50 card. What a hassle. My wife could have just as well said, "Buy $50 of games on your credit card for your gift." I will never again buy or recommend anyone use these gift cards. The store agreed that they needed to educate everyone that they are not good for games and he would talk to Apple..yada yada. You can't even find a word about 'No games for Canada' in their user agreement! We went through the whole thing. So, I get home and find I can't even get the Civ game on my computer because it got downloaded to the store computer, but still on my account. He says he can burn the game to cd and I should be able to use it. Does that work? I have a US account. Are you saying that I could have used this card on that account and it would work for games? It wouldn't know that the card is issued in Canada?
