Seems odd to have the IAP and ads if they don't affect anyone and no ones going to get them, guess future proofing, nice.

this is part of something else we do with the game, but you are right this inap showing now is confusing. I will see what i can do about it ASAP.

Can I actually ask you to tell others of your actual in-game experience? We all are usually speak of things that concern us, but give little attention when all is well. If you enjoy the game, please take a moment to tell the story.

We designed a game to be more then simple swipper, so if you just try to get through by moving the finger left and right you probably would be frustrated. To get a feeling of the game's debth, you need to learn the moves, work a stategy about every level and be not just strong, but cunning as well. Sorta what you would do if it were a real thing :)

    Now this... i kinda doubt.

    1. Buy day-1 @ $5
    2. Update to latest version (i assume this will have no ads then because of the version upgrade)
    3. delete app
    4. reinstall app
    5. Will there be ads???

From my experience from other games it will have ads. But what Tiferet is saying is that there will only be Tapjoy offer similar to #2?

I haven't had any problem with the in-game experience i actually love the challenge of the game and the depth since if something you dont see very often on ios games, i actually put my expierience with the game two pages before this one i think

What it have me worries is this iap to remove adds since in the first place was not there and most game that were without ads and them add a iap to remove them always the first paid costumers the only way the couldn't see the adds was having the previeus version installed and if you get to deleted even and reinstall even thought you paid for the game you will have to repurchase the iap to remove them and so far this goes will all the games no exception

To make sure I understand your English properly, you do intend to add in ads to this at some stage but it shouldn't be showing up yet?

Scratch that, it's pretty obvious. All I can say is I'm not sure why I'm surprised with the infrastructure that was already apparent and the spammy mess the companion app was. I've already uninstalled so I'm guessing I'm one of the ones who'll have to fork out again for no ads?

Awesome, I hadn't formally reviewed or rated this because I had mixed feelings. But that move has made it pretty certain I will.

Sigh. Here are facts. If you have bought a copy of the game on appstore you will not see any adds if you go online at least once during installation and play.
If you uninstalled the game and wish to reinstall the game you will not see any adds if you go online at least once during reinstall or play. You are not to buy no-add inap either during initial installation or reinstall.

Scratch app is not required to play I, Gladiator. Scratch app is free and meant to give a people for whom I, Gladiator would be too much a challenge an easy start by allowing to get a great sword cheap and transfer coins as well. If you are a hardcore player, I advice you not to bother with it. We meant for I, Gladiator to be an great adventure for people of all game skills, so we needed a mechanism to give a boost to those who need it. Whatever we succeeded or not is obviously subject to debate, some people love it, some not.

It is a pity you are disappointed. Moreover so, cause you are disappointed not about the gaming experience, but about something you presume would happen.

Heya, that is a very very valid comment. I dont want to give away everything, and not everything goes as scheduled, as always. But the reason I am here is to hear you voice things out. Cause we are indie developer, we still want to do great games for gamers. We are gamers ourselves.

I cannot disclose much, but I will hint. We are working on a solution that would allow us to carry on campaigns without hurting our dear first customers who paid for the game in the first place. Cause we need your support and I hope you need creativity that is sadly lacking now in the games overall...

I don't know how you're going to pull that off as you would be the first with implementing ads for only some users without the need for IAP, but god knows why, I will take your word for it.

As for the rest of it, most of its not really related to anything I had concerns over and more PR salvage than anything. You don't need to tell me what the companion app is, nor do you need to tell what I am (or for that matter am not) disappointed in. My concern was blatantly obvious regarding the introduced no ads IAP.

Point 1 - a mix of giving a damn and user's participation would hopefully yield something :)
Point 2 - it should be switched off by now. It might still be there, but its should be inactive. If not so, would be in few hours, request is filed.

OK, here is how it goes:

If you bought a game , then uninstalled it, than downloaded the update, then when you start a game without internet you would see a button "remove adds". If you turn on internet at this point and dont restart the game, the button would stay in a workshop. Should you press it, it would simply disappear. If you press this button without turning on internet, than you are going to get a message "Check your internet connection". If you restart the game after turning on internet, the button disappears.

If you bought a game and installed an update right on top then you wont get this button at all.

Hope this helps! And my arm is yours if you catch me lying :)

Very tempted to dive in for 99c, but still wary of actually paying to disable ads and hitting an IAP wall...

^This. Almost grabbed this last week. Adding ads to a game people paid $5 for and adding an iap to remove ads. Sorry, not for me.

Ok. I bought the game with the sale going on and not knowing anything about all of this ad stuff going on. And reading this thread, my head is spinning. I'm not seeing any ads and the only thing I can relate to is seeing a "Workshop" menu selection.

But am I not seeing ads because it's been completely turned off at this point due to the backlash? Or are the ads coming back?

I was on the fence about this game originally and so decided to grab it while it was on sale, but frankly, I don't like to deal with devs that put ads into a game after release because no matter what the situation is, someone is likely to get screwed.

Seems like a fun game, but irritated when any of this kind of stuff goes on. So even buying it on sale, I'm still turned off by this conversation.

Same here, I just bought it this morning without knowing about the ads.

So this is a paid game with ads?!

If you are gamers yourself, why not let this great game speak for itself? Sadly, after all this, it might be a little late as far as TA community goes, from the looks of it. All this ad-talk, tapjoy, scratch 'em companion app -- without any offense meant -- is turning off a lot of users and in a way making your amazing game feel cheap. The people behind it are making this situation a bit more confusing by not saying straight up what they are doing or plan to do. I'm still not sure... if I do not want ads now, I have to connect to the Internet and press a button, but be careful cause the button might not be there if you didn't shake the device and put it in airplane mode and called your mother before... simply put, too much!

While it's not a big deal be it a dollar or a fiver, but it's this business practice that is just silly to me. Again, you have a great game, but some of the decisions that were made and are still being made, they puzzle me. Hopefully, all this is experience gained for the future. Best of luck!
