For me the fun thing about building something with friends is if one of them is messing up the idea and we end up killing each other.
As one who could never get into Minecraft, I loved Junk Hack X. I think because there was more of an overarching goal (to travel through all the planets) and because it had nore personality. It wasn't just "kill spiders, stack blocks, dig holes, build weapons, kill spiders." It was a quest to find these awesome portal pieces that are hidden in secret alien ruins etc which would take ou to new planets with new everything on them, and along the way you had to build your own equipment and weapons etc. There were also Unique/rare weapons enemies would drop, which have the game a more RPG feel. Finding a vein of rare ores or gems was as exciting as finding a Pearlescent weapon in Borderlands 2. If you're gonna give a crafting game a shot, I recommend Junk Jack. I believe there's a lite version if I'm not mistaken. But I don't think I would have liked the first JJ because it didn't have the most interesting parts that JJX brought. So yeah.
I respect your opinion, but saying that they are not proper games is absolutely ridiculous. They're just as proper of a game as first-person shooters are.
Just curious how JJX compares to Terraria if you've played that. I'm not a crafting person at all either. Terraria was really fun at first, discovering different things on my own. But then I got to one point where I'm stuck and can't figure out on my own how to progress. I didn't want to read guides either (so I can discover stuff on my own). Still a fun game and worth the price and enjoyment I got out of it.
I've only played a demo of terraria. Uh ought it was alright, but I didn't really like some of it's mechanics. It was too much of an RPG to be a crafting game for me. Although I only played the demo, I was never hooked. I hook on JJX with 5 minutes. Now, be wary. JJX is a lot more about mining a traveling through tunnels and caves while killing monsters and finding underground ruins, and also lots of digging super deep and mining, then having to walk all the way up. The returning to surface is a bit tedious without ladders fyi. I'm telling you this because I don't want you to spend money on a game you don't like haha, and I would feel guilty. The best part is finding awesome ruins and the big black boxes with portal pieces. There's an amazing sense of discovery because there's lots of hidden little secrets. So it's up to you I guess. I'll stop derailing now.
I respect your opinion but saying that its a proper game in my view is absolutely ridiculous. I mean theres no end point is there ? You're just building and building structures ? Just like a clever art package really. 'Technically' its a game but is it a game like the standard shooters/platformers/racer etc ? Its amazing how popular it is but i totally dont get it, make some structure for people to see or others knock it down. 'Great' At the end of the day you enjoy it a lot, I don't
It's the same as people who only buy games that have icade support or controllers, or no tilt etc. Each person makes a decision based on ther needs/wants. I'm in the same boat. No GC achievements, no buy. Sure, I may miss out on some good games, but devs also miss out on my money. No worries, it's the app store. So many other apps to spend money on. Should GC achievements be addrd, I'll consider a purchase at that time. For those that don't find GC achievements add any value, then enjoy the game...
Exact -Psience love runners me not so much. I just find good Games with GC Achievements more Addictive IMO
Sure, GC achievements can ADD value to an already good game, but to not get a game JUST because it doesn't have them? That's just plain stupid. So will you buy any crappy game as long as it has GC achievements? I just can't convey how sorry I think that is.
I will not buy a crappy game just becasue it has GC achievements. THAT'S STUPID Feel sorry all you want. We all make our own decisions and have our own standards. Judge all you want, makes no diff to me. I won't lose any sleep over it. Anyways, people don't need to respond any further about me or others not getting this game because of no GC achievements. I asked a question, I got an answer, it's done.
Your not going to buy an awesome game because it has no achievements? That is stupid. No one cares about your achievements. Your friends won't look. A year from now, your not going to be like , " yo I remember when I got that 5 point achievement for throwing 3 ninja stars at once! " lmfao. But a year from now you might remember an awesome game you played & came to love. Don't worry , I'll buy plenty of iap's to cover you. Since the dev is MISSING out on your lousy few bucks. Your not going to enjoy someone's hard work because of GC achievements. Than you say he's missing out on your money because you don't care how great of a game is? So. You just care about achievements? Don't worry bud. Leave this thread As I said. I'll cover the dev for each one of you who says they won't play because of no GC achievement support.
Totally agreed. And then they tell us not to post about it anymore as if they have the right. I think that achievements/trophies/cheevos/whatever else you want to call them are one of the worst inventions in gaming. Or maybe it's just the sense of entitlement that they seem to promote.
If someone doesn't buy a game only because it doesn't have GC achievements, it isn't stupid. It may be confusing to some like me.. but to each their own. GC has little to nothing to do with game play - So you can't really compare it to another genre like an auto-runner. It would be more accurate to compare it to a game having co-op or a leader board. But if someone values achievements over game play, that's their choice. Edit: To us they're missing out on a lot of great games. But to them, they're saving themselves from a lot of games that don't have their favorite feature. At least that's how I rationalize it. This came up in the 'I don't understand' thread. On Topic: Looking forward to impressions on this. IF I can pull myself away from CQ that is..
I can understand what Mr. Charley means because I feel the same just in a slightly different way. If theres a new game in my favourite genre (runner) and it has no gc-leaderboards I'll never buy it because a runner without gc-leaderboards is pointless. I don't care too much for achievements, although I have no idea why they haven't implemented it in this game.
