Thanks for the feedback so far. On request I've added two new camera modes, the one pictured: As well as a first person cockpit view. There's also a new level and a list of other additions. new build going up now.
Tried the new build, landscape on iPad works now fine, i can access aeverything. It would be good to have options available ingame, then it's easier to tweak settings. The new close up camera plays quite different, so i needed to find a new sweetspot for the sensitivity. Games is fun so far.
All I have to say is that this game is an immense amount of fun! It's got its own unique features too which diverses the gameplay! I can say you're going in the right way!
Hi All. Long time no update! I've been working hard on Hyperburner and it's getting very close to done now. I'm about to submit the final major feature update (mostly UI this time) to Test Flight and I'd love to get some extra testers on board for the final push. More than anything I really need some people to test level difficulty and see how far they can get, so I can make any final tuning. If interested, send me a PM. Cheers vid here: https://youtu.be/sLBPO7x4dWw
To preface, I'm tired as all get out, but simply will not go to sleep until I've posted these enthusiastic first impressions. THE MUSIC IS FANTASTIC! Seriously, the music is like what Wipeout's soundtrack might sound like if Wipeout was set even further in the future. And that's not simply some hyperbolic rush to judgement; the music is really damn awesome. Secondly: lift up your finger and the game pauses? HA! Stupendous! Who'da thunk it? I'm tired. Did I mention the game is great to look at and the sense of speed is pretty great? OK, I'll tune in tomorrow and come back with, hopefully, more detailed impressions. But man, I hope this will be a premium offering or that we'll have the option of making it so. In sum, I'm happily impressed and will probably have some crazy Hyperburner dream now. Thanks a lot, Mr Cook! Also, I'm playing on an iPhone 6.
Really liking the looks of this. Reminds me a bit of Verticus in terms of speed, and that's what i liked most about that game.
I haven't decided yet, I built it on iOS 6.0 the other day but I might set it higher depending on which parts of the framework it'll need.
Cheers It's very much about speed, and that alone really. I decided early on not to make the game about pickups, or time/energy. It's just kind of purely a test of high speed piloting. I don't know yet if that's going to be everyone's thing, to not have that extra stuff, but the core experience was always the intended focus.
Alright, a few more humble impressions: I LOVE THE MUSIC! Really, I can hear the time and effort you put into the soundtrack- it's something I'd listen to outside of the game; it's THAT good. I love the front-end. The menus are absolutely precise and minimalistic, just the way these futuristic racers should be, IMO. I love that you ease players into the game with bite-sized, on the go, levels. Really, that's pretty decent of you. One thing I've yet to see, though, is a tilt to move option. Wassupwitdat? I wanna pay money for this like yesterday. It's gonna be on my device for a long time. DAT MUSIC IS SWEET! Almost forgot to mention how intuitive moving the ships are- game just reeks of quality. Also, the stage clear screens would make for dope-ass live wallpapers. UPDATE I exited the game (not closing it, mind you) while on the stage clear screen. I open it back up and it's now just one endless loop and I have to restart. Not sure if it's a big deal, but we'll see if I can make it happen again. UPDATE Yup. If you leave the app while it's on the stage clear screen, that's tantamount to a crash and you've have to quit and start again. At least, that's the case on my iPhone 6 running 9.2
Makes my day to hear positive impressions like this. THANK YOU! Really glad you dig the music, I get so little time to focus on music it was fun to have an excuse to get back into it. To answer an earlier point I missed: yes it'll be premium, no iAP or ads, probably 2.99 I think. The reasons I didn't add tilt controls, firstly they're not really my thing (not the best reason I know), but also I really felt that at the velocity the game runs at they'd be SUPER hard to use. Would you opt for tilt over the touch steering? I'm not sure what the uptake on tilt is as an option so maybe I should look into it. I looked at supporting MFI (in fact it is supported in the current build) but I find a controller is insanely harder to steer with, because the touch-scheme is quite mouse-like and IMO more precise and responsive. Anyway, thanks again. Really appreciate you helping me test it out!
So I feel like a complete ninkompoop for not seeing that little options thing at the top left of the screen. Whole game is quality. Again, I would just love tilt as an option, but a tilt-less Hyperburner is still quite... Hype.
Feels so good to play already sent you feedback via TestFlight. I would like to vote for improved mifi support. Dunno how really but I value games very highly that support controls in a quality way. Also I would really like an option to outline the way you have to go more clearly especially in the last zone it is no fun to die because you hit the border of where you are supposed to go and not knowing it because it seems like the right way to go. Other than that: simply fantastic! If you need more feedback on a specific point let me know! Ah btw the "loading" at the start of the game seems a bit low quality
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah the loading launch graphic is still placeholder. I'll look at what I can do layout-wise for zone 6. Glad you made it that far.
Just noticed your updates in earlier post re: getting locked in end of level screen. Working on a fix now. Good pickup!
Any news? Beta is not available for me anymore and I really, really liked what I played. Would be really sad, if this project would be dead, it was an amazing experience!
