I was skeptical about this one at 12 dollars... it's on sale for 3 dollars till Thursday, 10am PST and it's already blown my mind. The game seems to have incredibly high production values, combined with THE BEST water effects i've seen in a game to date. It has platforming elements similar to Uncharted and since i'm only 20-30 mins into the game, I haven't gotten into the combat system yet. Storyline's pretty interesting though; keeps you interested, it's hard to pull away. If you're on Steam, be sure to check this out. It's honestly a steal at this price, and definitely worth your time. Screenshots at 1920x1080, all details on HIGH, no AA - resized for easy viewing pleasure:

Even amidst the Steam Summer Sale, Hydrophobia stands out as one of the better buys. More screens for your drooling pleasure, resized of course:
A decent game, but nothing special. Played it on XBLA, it was ok. Not worth my 15 bucks, but I'd give it a 7/10. Although I'm seeing that for the PC version they added "brand new gameplay mechanics, exclusive new levels, a reworked back story, a dramatic new ending, recast voice acting and much, much more." I don't know if that effected the game much, but it did in scores. Metacritic has it as 59 for the XBLA version, and 65 for the PC, which is about what I'd rate it. I personally wouldn't call it a must have (Castle Crashers, Shadow Complex, now those are must haves) but it is a decent game that I feel was wasted on the simple and boring gameplay. Maybe those "brand new gameplay mechanics" helped in the PC version. Although now I think that those who bought it for XBLA must feel like they were shit on and were basically the beta testers for the complete and better game.
Yeah I agree man, I wouldn't even bother. Dark Energy Digital made a huge mess over the first few iterations of Hydrophobia that got bad reviews. They were claiming that reviewers were lying, that they hadn't even played through the game... It was a disaster. They keep trying to improve on their game but I'd agree with you, it's still about a six or seven out of ten.
