What features, fixes and improvements have you emailed the guys behind Touch Grind about?

Also, are there guys from Illusion Labs in the forums? It would be nice if there were :)

Well, I haven't emailed them about this, but I wish there were more camera angles. I also think the symbols for rails and ramps need to flash red right when we should ollie onto them. Right now, it's too hard to tell when is the right time so I always end up running into the rail or not getting close enough.

I also think the area that you skate in needs to be bigger so you don't always run into the fence. It's way too small right now :(

I agree. Or a distance measurement on the symbols.

Do you skate in warm-up mode or competition/jam session modes? The competition/jam session map is much bigger. It's strange they have a warm-up mode and a jam session mode because they're essentially the same thing.

The symbols flash once you get close, then transparent when they are about to be onscreen, then invisible when they are onscreen or barely out of screen.

Unless they did it right, I think a 3D character would kill the experience. It's supposed to be you skating, not someone else.

Really? Thanks for the tip. I noticed they kind "pop" when you're close but I didn't know about the transparency. Really good to know.

Now, about maybe a better view, it would be nice to have something where you could press and hold to momentarily see a view from the back of the board. This would be hard to pull off, but nice.

I've used all the different modes. I still think it's too small. :(

I've never noticed that they flash...

The thing I get paid for
    CANADIA
    new ideas

I wrote the developers and threw a few ideas their way.....now rememeber that the game is a touchboard game not a real skate game...dont try to change the game into something else.

    I suggested that they:
add a level of endless rails ---like one that goes on forever to practice on.
add a level with either a 1/2 pipe or an empty pool that you cannot leave.

    new moves I suggested were:
having the ability to use 1 finger off the board to "walk" it faster
    the ability to tick-tac
    the ability to powerslide
    the ability to nollie

    move I just thought of.

Stalls ----tail stalls would be nice

    New level ideas:
A cool adventure level would be nice ----kind of like a trail on rails where you have to jump and do tricks when certain obsticles get in your way and doing tricks get you extra points instead of just an ollie--like jumping puddles.....pencils..erasers....just like I used to do with my old finger boards ----A downhill level with huge hits would be nice as well ....with lots of air to get some good spin in and room to land it as well! I have so many ideas.

Collection levels where you are on rails again but you have to time your jumps to get "stuff" ---like a "t" then an "o" then a "u" and so forth ---what cha think?

I have a ton of things, and will eventually compile them all, but one thing that kills me is the mechanics of coming off a rail into a trick. Maybe 20% of the time I can pull that off.

yeah I agree, and when you are grinding on the griptape ( forgot what that's called) it's near impossible to flip out and complete the trick. You get massive amount of points for grinding on the griptape, but I can never land the trick.

I like that... I really think they need some theme levels actually.

I was thinking about the collection levels and such, too, but I think it would become infuriating.

Alright, here's what I have in a draft right now in my email (I plan to add more)...

Note that I'm writing this to the devs.

    ———

    -SKATEPARKS/MAPS-
    • I would LOVE for there to be a skatepark editor. This would make
this game even more of a blast. Especially if there was even
eventually an online collection of skateparks and maps made by the
    users.
    • It would be nice to be able to have some other places to skate, and
also be able to skate in more open areas and not just skateparks (city
blocks, parks, etc). I know there's memory limitations, but I'd love
for something like this to happen. Also to be able to download maps in
the application made by you guys.

    -BOARDS-
    • It would be great to be able to design boards, like being able to
use my own photos on boards, or to be able to design boards in the app
using a paint kind of interface along with stickers, griptape colors,
truck colors, and wheel design/colors. I'd love for a lot of this to
    be unlockable too.
    • Downloadable boards and maybe even some popular brands that you
could get skate companies to let you use. I'm sure they would.
    Advertising, right?

    -TRICKS/GAMEPLAY-
    • Some sort of "bullet-time", precision trick system.
    • Manuals. It would be nice to link combos from rails to ramps to
    whatever.

    -IMPROVEMENTS-
    • The markers around the screen help a bunch, but maybe even improve
    those with distance measures attached.

    ———

I know I'll add more but that's what I have as of now.

I just played for a second and was able to do it for (I think) the first time. I flipped into the rail (2.5 kickflips), landed on the griptape, and flipped back out (another 2.5 kickflips) and landed it for 34,942 points for my best trick yet. Cha-ching! :D

How about a replay feature where u do a trick, then when you watch the replay, it shows an A.I on a board doing that trick?

Or just those 2 fingers like on the how-to videos. That would actually help you see where you're putting your fingers and help you improve.

    I would like to see...

    -A couple of new tricks
    -Improvement of tricks involving rails
-More camera angles (the ability to zoom out a little bit more while skating)
-Levels that are somewhat "tutorial" levels where you can practice different things depending on the level.
    -Level editor
-A feature that is built in the game where you can make your own boards (I know you can SSH into your iTouch/iPhone to edit the files to create your own board, but I would like it to be less complicated later on)

    I'd like to see:

    - Text at the bottom showing what trick you just pulled off - similar to Tony Hawk et al. Wouldn't have to be large, but it'd be nice to have.

    - Manuals. Perhaps a double tap on the board on either the nose or the tail initiates a manual or a nose manual.

    - Late flips. (A kickflip or heelflip performed at the highest peak of an ollie). Perhaps you could flick the board whilst in mid air.

    - More environments.

    Otherwise it's excellent so far.

    Whoa-hoh-hoh!

Check out what I just found on the Touch Grind site's FAQs:

Q: Will there be an online park editor?
A: We are working on this and when it meets our quality standards we will release it.

I'd still like there to be an in-game, but maybe it couldn't be implemented as well.

I hope it will be as in-depth as seen in Tony Hawk games. Do those games have park editors anymore?

More camera angles. It's just too close to the board for comfort.
