Does anyone know how I can get the app store to work on the iPad in Canada? When I launch it I get the following two errors: "Your request could not be completed." and then... "Cannot Connect to the App Store - The App Store is not supported in this country." I've tried changing the app store country in iTunes and in my international settings. Any Canadians figure this out?
You cant use the iPad in canada for now as its not officially launched there yet. Not even for the free apps. All you can do is create a US account and download from there. You'll need to arrange a US gift card too if you want to download any of the paid apps.
That is not true. I bought VH1 Presents: Intellivision with my Canadian account from the Canadian App Store.
I know the difference. Also, the iPhone version is known as MTV Presents: Intellivision in the Canadian store, so no confusion there. And if you are still in disbelief for some reason, you can check for yourself.
iPad in Canada Hey, just use your Canadian iTunes account on your computer. Go to the iTunes Store and search iPad. A bunch of apps which are iPad capable are available for purchase, or are free.
Pretty annoying thread. As an iPad user in Canada let me state a few things I KNOW to be true. - you can download many iPad apps from the Canadian iTunes store, both free and paid, on a Mac, and likely on a PC running iTunes, though I have not tried the latter. - you can not download certain apps that are only available on the US store through the Canadian store. Some examples are iBooks and the ABC player. - you can create a US account to get free apps only available in the US by doing the following: 1. Switch to the US store 2. Attempt to download a free app 3. When it asks you to login, create a new account with your US address (make sure you get your zip code correct) and "none" for the credit info. Note: this will not work if you skip step 2 and just attempt to make an account. - if you want a paid account you will need either a credit card with a us billing address or a prepaid iTunes gift card. - note, many of the US only free apps like netflix, pandora, iBooks and abc player are currently useless in Canada without a proxy of some sort as they won't let you get any content with a Canadian IP address. - the app store on the iPad will not let you login in Canada That last item, I believe, was the point of this post originally. And I haven't found a solution yet but would love to hear if anyone has as it's annoying to fire up my computer to browse apps every time.
Do whatever purchasing you want to via iTunes on your Mac/PC and sync to the iPad, that's all you need to do. I'm in the UK and get the same problem as the iPad store is not live yet, but a lot of apps are available on the appstore by searching for them by name or just using 'ipad' as the search term. There's no way of forcing the territory on the iPad like you could with the iPhone (by changing territory if you're connected to iTunes), but if you can find away to fake your IP location it might work.
As I mentioned in my post, the annoying part is the having to use my Mac/pc. There doesn't seem to be a solution, however.
One solution to browse an active store (like the US) is to go to settings/store, view account and go to change territory. Once the legal agreement screen appears for approving the new territory, tap cancel and quit. You can now at least browse with your logged in account and if you do have approved credit will be able to purchase successfully. It won't change your territory unless you attempt to purchase from a store you don't have approved credit in at which point you'll have to change settings again. Not ideal but gives a way to browse on the device at least.
