This is relatively common knowledge, but thought I'd point it out specifically if people want to share on the forums.

To take a screenshot on your iPhone or iPod Touch, just hold the Home button and the Wake/Sleep button at the same time. The screen should flash white and a screenshot will have been added to your Camera Roll.

To get the screenshots off your iPhone or iPod Touch, just sync it with iPhoto.

    hilarious :p

EDIT: nevermind, I though this was a joke to get people to restart their iPhones but apparently if you don't need to hold it, just press them together, and it does work fine.

    Sorry!

That makes things great - I love the ability to so easily grab screens!

It's native on all iPod touches and iPhones with the 2.x software :)

So Arn - Can I ask the follow on -- I get the screen shots, I put them on the computer, and I upload them to the image area, but I cna't figure out how to get them to show up in the message... I get a separate photo on each page, and no text associated. It can't be that hard...

You can also email the screenshot or use it for wallpaper just like any other photo in Cameral Roll. For people having trouble with the timing...place your fingers on the home button and the wake/sleep button. Push the home button, and while it's down immediately press the wake/sleep button, and then let both go. Like arn said, you should see a white flash, hear the shutter sound, and the image will be saved in the Camera Roll.

What I'd like to know is if there's a way to directly post a screen shot to a thread here on the forums?

I found this out a while ago by playing a game and I must have slipped, pressing the combo somehow. Then I noticed saved pictures, something that'd never been there before and that's how I found it!

Just hold down the home button and press the power button.
Your screen should go white for a second (like a camera flash) and make a camera sound - if it's not on silent mode.

Go to the photos app, and in the camera roll should be your iPhone screenshots.
