I just realized the default iPhone text sender lacks these two basic and almost laughably crucial features (totally dumbstruck at how many features the iPhone does not have that other $0 phones have... no recorder and no camcorder, lol). Does anyone know a way to send the same text to multiple people, as well as forwarding messages (possibly searching messages)? Any apps that do that? I saw iSMS but it is for Installer only, and my Installer isn't working for some reason, it just closes after I launch it.
when you make the text just keep hitting the plus button and add as many contacts as you want. you need 3.0 to forward if you have that just hit edit then forward and tell it who to send it to. edit: just saw you are jailbroken on 2.2.1 no forwarding for you... but i thought jailbroken phones could do anything even toast my bread??????
Yeah the SMS app can send texts to multiple people. And if your jailbroken you can video record If you have an iPhone 3G, why not upgrade to 3.0 for free? You get tons and tons of new features, including forwarding, or copying a text and pasting it anywhere (another text convo) and send it easily.
I didn't upgrade to 3.0 yet because I'm still unsure of a way to back up app data, restore, upgrade to 3.0, and re-jailbreak successfully, and then reloading all the app data. If upgrading means losing all the books I have and game saves then I'll stick with 2.2.1. So basically there's no way to forward messages except upgrading right?
Back in the days of jailbreaking on 1.1.1, there was an app that mimicked the SMS app, but with forwarding and multiple receipients. Not used Installer/Cydia since then. Don't hold me accountable, but when I used the RedSn0w JB process to unlock my 2G phone and upgrade to 3.0, it retained all data and game saves. Google more to get other's opinions, but for me and my friends, even those on 3G model, it worked flawlessly.
You can SSH in and remove all the game save files and then after 3.0 upgrade, you can put them back in. You need to go to cydia and get an app called appbackup (looks like a brown box and a CD on the icon) NOT aptbackup that looks like a safe, similar names and functions, but appbackup is what you want. Youtube appbackup and learn how to use it and you'll be fine.
