Whats it like being young enough to have never experienced a world where the internet hasn't been a ubiquitous part of everyday American life?

It's awesome :) for example today I googles, then printed a document from my iPod, watched some Internet tv, played with Adobe's master collection, and even nodded some minigore, plus stayed and talked on forums all day. To have internet as like our generations baseband isn't good. But I love it :) UniPORN everywhere :)

When I was 13 I was downloading 30 second sound clips off AOL in WAV format, it took like 8 to 10 minutes per clip on a 14.4kbps modem. :(

    PC specs: 486 processor, 8MB of RAM, 500MB HD, 2x CD-ROM, 14.4kbps modem, 10 inch display all-in-one AST

Actually I used a Newton eMate for a while in high school, you could check them out from the computer lab.

The eMate was mostly built for classroom use I don't know if any games were even made for it. The Palm was actually a decent for gaming and people had games on their graphing calculators.

We still had lots of electronics and crap to waste money on. I spent most of my childhood with a Game Boy and started out on the Atari 2600 at the age of 2. Internet wasn't an option until my third computer, first was an Apple 2GS.

I'm amazed how this thread turned into something viable to read.

Jesus H. it hadn't even occurred to me that this is indeed a truth now. Man, Duke 3d LANs and 33.6 porn were groundbreaking at some point.

It's just hard to imagine not having seen it develop. Mid twenties feels old for the first time.

On another note, there was a thread earlier about younger editors.

I'll admit I'm surprised about the curve of the graph, but I'm not surprised by the amount of younger members.

There was a point in the vanquish thread about how some older members don't feel younger ones have the ability to review games or such.

Makes me think about all this. I've a wife, been to war, pretty well rounded... but I couldn't code jack or know half the stuff some of the younger guys do.

Expectations based on age are turning to crap.

    Horay.

    Australia, mate!
I doubt it that anyone would be able to remember the dinosaurs, seing that they existed roughly about 5000 years ago.

I'm 15, I have to admit though, I am surprised by the age of some people here,

I'm not going to point fingers though, I might get into a bit of strife
