How is the xbox game better? I would assume that controls and such would be optimized for a touchscreen if it were to be a console quality game, aka Aralon and Dead Space, rather than Dungeon Defenders.
There is a huge difference between the two Dead Space titles. On iOS it is based off the XBOX version, but is missing half the missions, etc. The XBOX version actually lasts a long time due to the longer story, etc.. I finished Dead Space for iOS in 3 hours (total..probably an overestimate).
I don't understand why ppl are saying Aralon and Dead Space the IOS version obviously are console quality . If both games as they are came out on your PS3 or XBOX would you buy them . Aralon is not Oblivion is it not saying it's a bad game but it is what it is . As for Dead Space i was amazed at how good it looked but again compared to Dead Space on the consoles it doesn't compare . The games are good for the hardware they run on but until the hardware improves maybe the next generation of iPhones and iPads will take us a step closer . So what I'm saying is really this thread is pointless as at this moment in time we can't have console quality games on our idevices in my opinion . Now I wait for everyone to shoot me down
I was giving those as examples of controls optimized for touchscreens, not that they're console games. They're more premium games as Dumaz said somewhere else. If we're assuming that they are console games, then they have everything from the console versions.
Honestly, If Hitman Blood Money/Bioshock/System Shock/CoD:MW/CoD:MW2/Silent Hill/Red Dead Redemption was ported to the iOS I would pay up to $40 cheese each.
The xbox version of Aralon would have better graphics, gameplay, levels and I like the controls on xBox better. The controls on iOS are good, thats why I am an Apple fanboy but what I am saying is if you had a chance to get a 60 dollar aralon on the iPhone or xbox i think even you would get xbox game.
Before I say anything about IOS let me comment on console. There is alot of crappy console games too. For some reason here in this thread people talk if console is magic , bt like ios there is alot of crap too. Here we compare the best console games , not average console games. Ok now on to dead space which I feel is most console like. I previously said it need 10 hours of gameplay and 3-4 more weapon selection to be like console. The only other thing else it needs is more bosses , as this game only had 1 huge boss. Boss fight was spectacular and if there were 3 boss fights like it , it would have been much better. Now being honest even if it didnt have all features of console its better than most average console games. Also if EA does make full console version 10 hours + with 8-10 weapons it would not be $6.99. It would be around $15 dollars , how many sales will it get? Well we will find out soon if EA made good money with dead space , there was talk of dead space 2 comming to mobile. Let us hope and pray dead space does well.
I thought unreal engine 3 demonstrated the otherwise :confuse: It'll... No doubt, but.... not for the # of copies sold, but for the total grossing & then it'll kick off towards the # of coies. However I wonder how many will buy the same game that they have played years ago I could not agree with you more.
I think that a console quality game should be sold for $24.99, from what the poll says so far. That would almost match the PSP and DS game price. And it's very reasonable for a full featured game.
The poll question is different to the thread question! So I answered $60, a reasonable amount for say, a PSP game. Then I realised they were on about a port to an iDevice! Errr, no, not $60... perhaps the $10 mark
K, you're basically referring to a product that can't exist, then. Console games were built with controllers in mind. The touch screen can't emulate that for the vast majority of games while keeping the same experience. Imagine if I asked a similar question about a PC-quality RTS. You will never see one on the iDevices that has an giant esports scene like BW or SC2 (not even close). It's just not physically possible.
Yeah it is possible because Infinity Blade and Dead Space had good controls and great graphics, not to mention that there are other ways you can use the controls, like a controller that connects to your iPhone or those fling controls. SO I think you can emulate the console controls on a mobile device, as those two games have shown us. And I think you're exaggerating when you say 'It's not physically possible'.
Some of you are nuts. If I am going to spend more than $15-20, then I'll just buy a game for a real gaming console. Why waste that money on games for a cell phone?
Because not of all us have time to sit on a damn couch all day? And um..you're paying $40-$50 for a psp/ds game. Are those consoles? I'm not sure what kind of game you'd get on a ps3/xbox 360 for $20, most likely one that'll be played once and thrown to the deepest depths of your closet.
And that, my friends, is why the notion of "console gaming" on a mobile device, e.i. a cell phone and/or smartphone, is fail. you can fight it all you want, but this is the majority opinion of iDevice owners. Once more, everybody knows it too. Especially the developers themselves. Major devs aren't stupid. They are only willing to invest a limited amount of capital when it comes iOS development because they know beforehand that they can only gain so much in return. The profit margin simply isn't high enough.
I suppose this poll is not exactly appropriate for this forum. But we are less than 1% of the Apple world. The app store is renowned for its cheapness while still maintaining quality. Most iDevice owners are looking for this "motto". Any game over $15 is not going to popular in the App Store, because people will be disappointed of the price. The iDevice may have enough specs. but just not you can say good enough to get console quality games
I don't think we'll see any console quality games. If you saw the best of what's on offer on an actual console you probably wouldn't be that impressed as I believe there's only so much you can do with the hardware on an iDevice.
