Your iphone should feel warm sometimes. When playing very processor heavy games like cube or aqua forest it should feel warm but not hot. If it every feels more than warm i would leave it alone for a little bit, maybe turn if off.

My 1st gen Iphone gets pretty warm playing graphic intensive games for long periods or charging from almost empty.

I once left it charging off a rechargeable battery on my bed because I was using it before I fell asleep. It ended up under my pillow and I woke up when I set my hand on it... it was burning hot!

I quickly set it on my tile floor and it cooled down almost instantly.

Lesson learned: The metal back on the 1st gen iphone is there for a reason. It's a huge heat sink, if it starts getting too hot you should take a break

My iTouch feels warm once in a while after I've been using it for an hour or two. But usually it's barely even noticeable.

well I have the white 3g and it gets super hot to where I am scared if I play any longer its gonna break, I don't have an apple store where I live and I got it from an AT&T store and I don't wanna send it in and be without it for a long time.

so should I be concerned or its probably just normal

My ipod Touch 2G gets hot on the right side sometimes. Took a temp read and it said 89 degrees, not awful, but a little high, I think. it cools down after a while, I sometimes wish it had a hard drive, so i could hear it spinning and the fans whirling, just to be sure.

In fact a say 120GB iPod Touch isn't a half bad idea, its just Apple would likely step it up to a 5" screen and make it a more slate type thing. Their tablet.

So arn got you EDNG, didn't he??

Hilarious! What's the matter guys, you don't like it hot? If it's that hot anyways, it's probably time to leave it alone and let it recharge... I don't think it's gotten close to how hot my old MotoQ got!

If you play graphic/CPU intensive games on an iPhone or touch whilst charging, it becomes very hot. I have a 2G touch and was once playing TouchGrind whilst charging and it went super hot. I also have a dent in the back, so the metal in direct contact with the battery prob wouldn't help...
The heat shouldn't be too bad, because it's all silicon and metal inside which have extreme melting points, but it's possible there is some glue in there somewhere holding something down so I wouldn't recommend it.. But I wouldn't overly worry about it.
