There is one thing that I have been wondering about for a while. Whenever you uninstall an app you are asked to rate it. This seems fair, since you can assume that people have tried it out at this point. One thing though is that the apps I play the most and really like I dont uninstall. Whereas the app I dislike I uninstall, quickly. I am curious if other people are using the rating system in the same way, if that is the case the reviews would in general tend to be mid to low, whereas the 5 star reviews would be less common because people dont uninstall the app they really like. So I am curious how do you use the rating system?
That's correct. I used to 1 star most things I deleted, because they weren't very good and that's why I deleted it. If they were good enough to keep, they didn't get to be rated. So now I've changed it to where I will always hit 'No thanks' and if the game is bad enough, I will go review it in the app store. And if it's good enough I will go leave a good star review. That way it's not completely biased....but the thing with this is, I don't hardly ever leave 2 or 3 star reviews ever. It's either 1 or 5 stars generally.
So are these rating that you give after deleting an app, used in the average rating in the appstore? Or are they compiled in a separate place.
I think they are included into the average rating in the store. That's why all the free apps have horrible ratings, because they get downloaded and deleted quickly and people just leaves 1 stars. See this was the number one free apps rating the other day View attachment 4129
Ok, thanks. Ya, that stinks for the free it shoots all their ratings down. But I guess it doesn't matter since they are free.
All in all the rating machanism dosen't seem to make such sense when you look at it from this perspective. When I think about it I actually put more value into the reviews that the er refered to in the description of the app. Maybe the best way was to only allow rating if people actually made a review. That way you would remove a lot of noise.
