There used to be an app long ago called appsniper. I used it all the time until I read a reivew of someone mentioning Touch Arcade. I've been here ever since.
Decided to search "iPod Games" on Google in February 2009 about a month after I got my 2nd gen. iPod. Lurked for a few months, mainly just reading front page articles. Decided to finally join July 2009, and well, the rest is history. The site and the platform have come a long way since then. It's been an awesome ride.
Yeah, around the same for me. Just searched for the "Best iPod Touch Games" or something like that and I came across the TouchArcade forums. I lurked for a couple of months and decided to join in November 2010.
I used to read reviews for a month after getting my iPod on touchgen. This was a year and a half back. They reviewed a game on Bruce Lee, and mentioned that the game was too shallow and all about mashing a particular button. Some other user came around and told the reviewer about various things that TA reviewers and forum members were talking about on how combos deepen the experience. Reading that I came to TA... have checked this website practically every day since then.
Discovered this site around June 2010 searching for iPhone and iPod Touch Game reviews in Google, about a month before I got my iPod Touch because I knew that I was getting one for my birthday and was trying to hype myself up for all the awesome games that I'd be able to play on it. Lurked for about a year and a half because all I had was wifi on my iPod and no connection to the internet on my computer (Stupid wifi thingy was broken on it). Joined in October 2010 and the rest is history.
First came to this site because of Aralon. The game really piqued my interest, and I wanted to find out more info, so I googled it, and came across TA. Wanted to add my own comments, so I created an account.
5 or 4 months ago while I was on the PG blog. I had heard it on Openfeint around April 2009, but never went on it.
Reading a lame iPhone game review on an italian Apple-based blog, someone in the comments mentioned TouchArcade to get good reviews.
I was searching for a forum full of iPhone games since a long time... I'm glad i found it as i'm an app addict
I was looking for any information of a Sims game coming to iPhone (because I'm sad). It came up with an article for Spore by TA, so I read it and stayed with the site since.
A long time ago, I was fishing in the well of eternity for sun spotted liver fish. I had my iPhone with me and was listening to Enya when suddenly I spotted a level 15 bear approaching my vicinity. This caught me off guard as I was swordless, and shieldless. I quickly jumped up and my foot got caught in between two large rocks. "This is bad news" I thought, but the bear was getting closer, I had to think quickly. Using my Fishing Pole of the Gods +1, I pried my way out from the rocks and rolled by my sword. "Where had my shield gone?" I thought, searching around while keeping an eye on my the bear with one eye. In the distance, I noticed a pair of Goose Coons making off with my shield. They couldn't have been higher than level 6, but with such great speed, there is no way I could have caught them in my current armament. I used a quick summon spirit spell to distract the bear when suddenly he called to me "Hail, traveler!". I gasped, "This beast can talk?". I retracted the summon spell and asked it to state it's business. "I am but a simple iPod touch gamer, but there is no WiFi out here. Do you know how to get past level 4-3 of Enigmo?". Finally... someone who spoke my language. I met, cautiously, with the bear and used my mighty 3G speed to Google Enigmo help. It pointed me in the way of this... this... Touch Arcade web-site. Since then I've been hooked. I even have a lock of hair from the bear.
