    1. Password: I'MLEAVING!_MEM_RECOVER_32

    2. Precise details of how you found this page (be sure to mention this URL "iphone.ezone.com/JUMPSHIP")!

    3. At this point you have a choice:

    or

You can forfeit the Ezone.com app prize, and earn EVEN MORE eligibility points towards your chance of winning the grand prize.

    or

You can be really nice and selfless, and forfeit the Ezone.com app prize AND nominate another Hover World Alternate Reality Game thread member to have their eligibility points increased SOME (this in turn will earn you EVEN MORE MORE eligibility points!) Good karma and all that! :) PLEASE NOTE: Once YOU nominate someone - YOU can't nominate them again for the duration of the contest... you can, however, choose someone YOU haven't nominated yet! (We want to make it fair don't we?) Share it around! :)

btw, staulcub and everyone... I have figured out how to get my computer to alert me when a new puzzle is added. Its kinda involved and it took me awhile to get things to work together. I'll try to write something up after a bit when I get a chance to think what you need and how I have done it.

A good reason is the technology that he will be sharing that will enable us to be alerted when a new puzzle comes out! :D

    HOVER WORLD
    Rank update!

Okay... just for fun, I processed all of the data and posts on this thread to see where everyone stands (rank-wise) in the running for the Grand Prize...

So far (taking into account who has solved the most, who has helped the most, who has tried the hardest, who has the best manners, who has accumulated the most eligibility points, who has been given the most eligibility points, who has really tried, who has dropped the most hints, who has given it their all despite chasing red herrings and going off on wild goose chases, who has finally understood the hints, who has used both sides of their brain to the fullest, who has stepped in at the last second to solve the puzzle, who has taken the wildest guesses, who has come up with the most amazing deciphering ideas, who has blown the most gaskets, who has lost the most sleep, who has shown the most devotion to deciphering, who was the fastest at solving the puzzles, who has solved the most puzzles in a row, who has spoon-fed the answer to other players, who has been spoon-fed the answer by other players, who has raced in at the last second and used the answer that someone had just provided without realising that they had just provided itÂ…etc) this is the updated top 10 list of names of who currently has the best chance of winning the grand prize of a Parrot AR. Drone (a cool hover toy!!!)

    1. staulcub
    2. hiurdin
    3. pajo_ojap
    4. cjsbug
    5. jwcasser
    6. cloudcastles
    7. Daldaris
    8. da shiz wiz 19
    9. warcrack
    10.KoOne23

Note: This list may change depending on how the rest of the contest continues... As you can see (if you look through this thread)... we've had quite a shuffle of names as we've progressed through this contest! So you never know! You've got to be in it for a chance at the Grand Prize! So get in there!

If your name hasn't made the list - you need to try harder (you may just be in position 11)!

Extra note: You don't need to actually solve the puzzles in order to be eligible... you may earn eligibility by just being helpful in the thread!

    Good luck everyone!

Be on the look out for more puzzles!!

The winner is who ends up #1. But you don't have to solve the puzzle to earn points.

Here is the long awaited, Computer Alert Methodology 101. Then again maybe not so long awaited.

Okay so how to get your computer to alert you when a new puzzle comes in. As it turns out there are plenty of options of ways to do it but they are really all doing the same thing. There are services, programs and addins you can subscribe to or use that will compare web pages for changes. Some of these cost money, some don't. Some have more notification options and granualarity than others. One of the difficult parts is telling the services what kind of changes to look for and in a active forum thread this seems like it could be hard.

My method isn't probably the most elegant, but I decided to come up with a solution that is free for me to use and ends up using programs and services I already have. First of all I use FIREFOX as my browser of choice. There are atlease two browser addons that will do comparsions for you but only one that has the notification options needed. This addon is called 'AlertBox' and is located at "https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/13587/". Navaigate to the page that you want to have compared, more on this later. Once you have installed this in FIREFOX you can click the little bell symbol in the lowerright toolbar of firefox addons. This will pop up a window that takes up about half the browser screen and has 3 main sections, Page Properties & Options, Content locator and then the buttons on the right side. At this point move the mouse cursor into the web page portion of the window. You will notice as you move the mouse cursor that certain items on the page get boxed in (if you know about html, you will understand what is being selected). When you find the data that you want compared (it can be the whole page), just click the left mouse button as the appropriated data is boxed. You may have to move the page up and down to relibably determine if you have what you want selected. The data you clicked on will be added to the 'Content locator' box below the web page. Then click the Add Alert button. Viola, you have an alert set up...ah but we arn't done yet. Now you need to tweat the alert some so Click the 'Show my Alerts' button. This will open up another tab in the browser called 'Alert Box' this page will let you modify different parts of the alert including how often to have a comparison done. Warning if you set this to too low a granularity, you may get banned from that website. I currently have my set to 30 minutes, maybe could get away with less than that, I've only had this working for 1 day so I still need to tweak.

The next step is getting ready to set up notification. Under the 'Settings' option in the upper right, is the options for notification, one of which is email. You need to register (for free) at "pulsvu.com". By clicking the register option it will take you to the registration page. Create a password login for yourself. They sent the confirmation back rather quickly, but I was unable to login in till later the next day. Once you can login, login and go edit your account information. The email login you used for the confirmation is the default that emails will be sent to. I haven't tried but it appears you can change this when ever you want. The real key here is to scroll to the bottom of the page and make sure the 'Receive email notificaiton ...' check box is checked. This still isn't enough to get things working. Go back to the Alert Box tab in the browser. enter your username and password that you created for the 'pulsvu' account and save. Mouse to the box with the alert in it and left click the data under the 'Content' heading. To me this wasn't intuitive until I did a little Alert Box forum googling and even then it wasn't a given and I just ended up clicking here and found thats where I was suppose to be. This should open and show you either the content and content history or the dates of content change that haven't been read yet. There is also an Options selection right above these dates. Select Options at this time. This allows further refinement of the alert, but the important piece is located at about the middle of the screen and is called 'Alert Actions'. One of the options is 'Send Email'. I recommend that you check the check box now, otherwise this has been a waste of time. Now when a change occurs you will be automatically sent an email. Cool huh.

Well if you are like me email is a little oldschool and I don't even want to check it like everytime it happens. Yes the wonderful iphone lets you know to some degree when a new email comes in...if you have it set up. So what to do?

I happen to have 'hotmail' as my email provider, so your mileage will vary greatly if you don't have hotmail. The good thing is its free so you can sign up for account, otherwise you need to figure the rest of this out for yourself. Its free and does what I need it todo. In fact if you go into its options you can tell it to send you a sms text message when an email comes in. Double nifty cool! So log in to hotmail and click 'profile' under your login name (next to 'sigh out'. You will need to add you phone number for sms notificaiton, there is a 'add your mobile phone number' selection to allow you to do this. I believe that is all there is to it. Of course you need text messaging service for this to work and for various reasons (iphone) I have ATT and unlimited texting, all tho I think because you have a data plan with an iphone, you end up with unlimited texting anyway. I may be wrong. Sue me.

At this point you should get a text message when an email comes in. Yes for any email, I wish there was better granularity here and maybe there is that I haven't figured out yet.

Cool huh! Oh ya, I mentioned something about that I would cover later about what to compare against.

I have to alerts set up, one is sort of redundant but maybe more reliable.

The first one I set up was I navigated to the current hoverworld forum thread page (which happened to be Page 105 at the time.) and selected the whole darn thing. This seems to be working just fine but I was worried it wouldn't keep up when rolling over to the next page. I do suggest updating the alert once in awhile to the newest page, but it appears you wouldn't have to.

The second alert I added was a lot more specific. I don't know how many of you noticed but garbot1 updates the 1st page with the new puzzle at about the same time he posts a new response to the thread. He also edits it with the new ranking once it occurs, so I added an alert that just looks the 'Last edited' line under the 1st post. That way it is looking at really specific updates and I don't have to worry about rolling over to another page. I know, I know I'm a genius. A super genius (my middle name is Wiley E.).

Oh ya one more thing about setting the compare granularity to quickly. I'm not sure how often the times in the posts or other things may get updated, so you could end up with a lot of false positives as it were.

Well that got long winded. I wonder if it will let me post all of this in one post? Here goes. And best of luck to everyone. I hope this proves helpful, so that we all don't have to keep hitting the refresh key all the time.

I almost forgot, many thanks cjsbug. I certainly didn't expect it. Like I said before Life isn't always fair. You beat me fair and square. But again many thanks. I've been keeping da_shiz_wiz_19 in the back of my head, so that he may get nominated if I ever get my answer in fast enough:D.
