    Hmm...

And again this is just a thought from a garbage robot, but... I think that the "plus" in this case probably just means add them together.:)

I don't think we want to complicate this anymore than it already is.:D

What we know. I'm not trying to reiterate things here, but there does seem
to be a little confusion going on.

The riddle answer is made up of 3 parts that when
combined/concatenated together give the complete answer.

We have the answers to the last 2 parts of the riddle, in some
form(more on this later) or another.

The "Plus" words in the riddle split the clues to designate each part.

The clue to the first part of the riddle is "On the surface I'm a fine
varnish", thats it. It does not include the second line of the set!

The clues to the second part of the riddle as follows:

"Plus, I make a divine garnish

    I make women swoon
I can be used to make room

I get into your ears but I don't make a noise
I don't make a smell but I get into your nose

    I'm scattered all around
    I'm a veritable breeding ground

    Bling-bling ring"

The clue to the third and final part of the riddle is "Plus, I OWE
    NOTHING".

As far as I'm concerned this is all we really know. Anyone have
    anything to add?

Getting back to the 2nd part of the riddle:

garbot1 says that we have the answers to the last 2 parts of the
riddle, in some form or another. Well that could mean that we don't
have the actual word needed. So form could mean singular/plural differences
like 'MEMORY' and 'MEMORIES'. It could also mean physical form as
in 'ICE' and 'FROST'. Of course it may not be limited to these "forms" either.

so of the clues we think we know:

Part 3 first "Plus, I OWE NOTHING". As I see it there are three
answers that make any kind of sense to me. These are 'IO0, 100,
FREE'. I am partial to '100' at the moment cause thats the form of
the riddle I first seen. I believe it was da_shiz_wiz_19 and Daldaris
who seen another form that would give the answer 'IO0' and
    cloudcastles mentioned 'FREE'.

Trying to fit this to garbot1s words of related to 'OPTICAL VIDEO',
the only thing I can come up with is that '100' could be interpreted
as a film speed 'asa/iso 100'. With 'IO0', well 'IO' is certainly
    computer related.

    Part 2:

"Plus, I make a divine garnish

    I make women swoon
I can be used to make room

I get into your ears but I don't make a noise
I don't make a smell but I get into your nose

    I'm scattered all around
    I'm a veritable breeding ground

    Bling-bling ring"

Has to be something that fits all these lines, and somehow relates to
OPTICAL and/or VIDEO and related words. Some ideas for canidates for
this include DUST which I can make somewhat of a case for the other
clues but not sure how it fits Bling-bling ring. MIRROR - again can
make it fit the clues except for I'm a veritable breeding ground.
MEMORY - except for Bling-bling ring. I could go on but you get the
idea. I didn't really bring anything new here to the table but
    getting my thoughts in order.

    The first clue answer.

"On the surface I'm a fine varnish"

garbot1 says that "Varnish might not be as literal as you think". I think what
he is saying here is not to use the common varnish words, like OIL STAIN ...

I'm thinking maybe more metaphorically. Like ICE or FROST are
something that covers. So something like LENS which is a covering and
something to do with OPTICAL might be closer to what we are looking
for. If you want something less physical the things like 'REFLECTION'
and 'REFRACTION' might fit the bill.

And of course with all that verbiage...I still have nothing.

When I saw that you had posted this morning, I thought "Aha! He's got it. We can finally move on." But alas....

Your summary is spot-on with where we are though.

With fine varnish being something "optical", I think of characteristics you can see like GLOSSY, SHINY, BRILLIANT, BRIGHT, POLISHED

but I can think of anything that relates to FREE or 100

I keep coming back to this post...

I can't help thinking that one of the parts of the answer is scattered throughout this post. :)

DUDE!!! NICE!!! Thank you thank you thank you.

I was at a school event for my daughter, so I didn't see the last garbot1 messages until just before you solved it. I had toyed with the idea of 'stud io' before but just couldn't grasp it and get rid of the 0 until tonite I was thinking of the literal NOTHING and then garbot1's message came along. I was excited that I was heading down the correct path, But I was aways from the answer still. I might have eventually gotten to it then again probably not. I was heading down the path of 'RE-COVER MEMORY IO' and variants. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Truly appreciate it.

I have to say tho this one was a toughy and to everyone, way to pull together on it.

Yeah I had thought about using 'A word + IO' way back (last week? haha) but that was before we discovered that it was the combination of different parts of the riddle so I forgot about it (I think I tried STUDIO by itself but it didn't work so I disregarded it)

    Update!!

Okay... just for fun, I processed all of the data and posts on this thread to see where everyone stands (rank-wise) in the running for the Grand Prize...

So far (taking into account who has solved the most, who has helped the most, who has tried the hardest, who has the best manners, who has accumulated the most eligibility points, who has been given the most eligibility points, who has really tried, who has dropped the most hints, who has given it their all despite chasing red herrings and going off on wild goose chases, who has finally understood the hints, who has used both sides of their brain to the fullest, who has stepped in at the last second to solve the puzzle, who has taken the wildest guesses, who has come up with the most amazing deciphering ideas, who has blown the most gaskets, who has lost the most sleep, who has shown the most devotion to decipheringÂ…etc) this is the updated top 10 list of names of who currently has the best chance of winning the grand prize of a Parrot AR. Drone (a cool hover toy!!!)

    1. hiurdin
    2. cloudcastles
    3. pajo_ojap
    4. jwcasser
    5. staulcub
    6. cjsbug
    7. Daldaris
    8. KoOne23
    9. speed4mee
    10. warcrack

Note: This list may change depending on how the rest of the contest continues... As you can see (if you look through this thread)... we've had quite a shuffle of names as we've progressed through this contest! So you never know! You've got to be in it for a chance at the Grand Prize! So get in there!

If your name hasn't made the list - you need to try harder (you may just be in position 11)!

Extra note: You don't need to actually solve the puzzles in order to be eligible... you may earn eligibility by just being helpful in the thread!

    Good luck everyone!

Be on the look out for more puzzles!!:D
