I've adapted Sokolov22's layout for a 20x20 full expansion plot. I've also taken into account Phazer89's comments (thanks!) about the optimal placing of scenery with regards to large baths. As such, I've tried to place lesser contributing scenery pieces farther away from the bath. I've also continued to leave the souvenir stands inaccessible. It's not that much of a loss and I can cram more scenery in and saves me the trouble of boosting its popularity. The bath house layout gives 6 effects with one heart each: Jacuzzi, Spa, Fast Friends, In-Crowd, Forever Young and Silky Smooth/Springerade. This nets about 170 scenery for the Women's Bath and about 160 for the Men's Bath. This value obviously fluctuates depending on season, day/night etc. After allocating space for the essential scenery for effects, I filled the rest of the space with plum trees and one maple tree (for autumn boost + variety!) The rest of the layout should be pretty self-explanatory. Grey areas represent roads, while green areas are scenery. I used Plum Trees, Maple Trees and a few Bamboos in the corners for variety. I've tried to fit as much scenery as possible while not blocking movement paths too much -- those are the bits of green sticking out here and there. I used 3 reception counters at the front, for no real reason really, other than to make traffic move more quickly. edit: Phazer, feel free to put the layout in your guide if you want.
Phazer, great guide! I'm not sure what the unlock conditions for bamboo are. In the first play through it unlocked quite quickly. In my second it took much longer. I had more than 10 of all the preceding items and it just wouldn't unlock. I suspect there might be a Target that needs its popularity raised to a higher value before it gets unlocked?
I'm making version 1.10 (lol) now, based on a poster at GameFAQs, the new criteria for Bamboo is 20 Tatami Rooms. I've tested it specifically (I built 19 and nothing happened for a few months, and on the 20th it unlocks) and it works. Edit// Cool, thanks for the layout. I wanted to post the new version earlier on today, but the more I tested the more holes I found so I'm kinda stuck. XD I figured I'll just add in whatever updates and make the test revisions next time, so hopefully I'll be done with it later on.
good thing your doing here~~ but man getting everyone to 90 pop n trying to get VIP room is a pain in the butt
Lol yeah. By that time I was just running the game to test out the conditions, but even so it took a loooooooong time before I got everyone to 90. Problem comes when you have all the targets, and they all start coming so you can't focus on one group as much. Would like it if they had more save slots, right now I have a game solely for testing, I can't bear to delete my old save (I have 2 more or less proper games) so I have the test game on the auto-save. :/ Btw regarding the carrying over of bath effects for Large Baths, does anyone know if it'll work if it happens after Year 15? I know the baths itself will still carry over, but I'm not sure about the effects. And if yes, do all levels of effect carry over (i.e. if you had 3 levels before end-game, the bath will have 3 levels in the new game without additional facilities), or only 1 level of each effect? Someone on GameFAQs posted saying the bath effects will carry over if unlocked before Y15, but I've yet to confirm the above scenarios.
It seems like only one heart of the bath effect will carry over, but I'm not sure because what I did was this: I created the above all bath effect layout shown in my previous post. This gave one base heart of each effect, i.e. green heart. All my other hearts come from milk/seeds etc., so those are bonus hearts, i.e. pink. I started a new game and built a bath. It had all of the green hearts but none of the pink ones. I wasn't able to test it with a multiple green heart bath because I didn't make one. Having said this, it would seem far too broken to allow ALL effects to carry over. One heart is more than reasonable imo. This seems to tally with the fact that you can't ever have more than 1 free pond through multiple playthroughs. The reasonable conclusion to draw is that you only get ONE free thing Someone DO test it though.
You can say that again. Just let it run I guess and do something else, randomly poking the screen from time to time to clear messages. Do you think it's even humanly possible to max out target popularity by year 16?
I'm still searching for a layout that gives more than 6 hearts worth of base bath effects without bonuses/milk/seeds. Is it possible?
Unlocked 48 of the 49 Targets...missing the Rich Couple one...I'm confused by the tech tree posted earlier "Nobleman + Noblewmn (0 pop) -> Rich Couple" Does this mean if the pops for either the Nobleman or Noblewmn are > 0, I don't get the unlock??? kill me now if that's true...
I've just started to add some of the layouts to my guide (was working on the mechanics earlier on), it's kinda late now, I'm half-awake so I can't focus on working out the effects. I'll try to see what you meant tomorrow. XD But yeah, having 3 levels of effects would be crazy. And with 1 level you can use the 2 Ponds to get 3 levels of Forever Young anyway, which is probably what we're meant to do. Hopefully he/she (on GameFAQs) can verify this. Btw I noticed nobody has side gates/receptions? Although layout-wise it'll take up more space, and by end-game you'll have more money than you know what to do with, but still, having side gates can help to facilitate the entry and movement of guests by quite a lot. But yeah, I suppose having a nice, symmetrical layout looks better. And before I sleep: I'm not sure if anyone has found this out but when I started playing and experimenting with layouts I found out that you can have a decoration in the middle of the path but it'll still make a facility accessible: F F F F G F G G G G F D R G G G G G G G where F=floor, G=grass, D=decoration (scenery), R=room I realized this when I was trying to cram multiple effects onto bath, but I think if there's any other object besides the scenery adjacent to the room it'll become inacessible. Or something like that. So when you have a bunch of other stuff already I guess this is just for fun.
Btw I've made some changes to the tech tree too: Antique Dlr -> Fortuneteller -> Tea Expert -> Opera Sngr -> Rich Missus -> First Lady Biz-Man -> Prgrmmr -> Researcher -> TV Host -> Pianist -> Trader -> Nobleman Biz-Man -> Manager -> M. Artist -> Old Couple Biz-Man -> Manager -> M. Artist -> Novelist -> G. Manager -> Secretary OR Painter Painter -> COO -> Governor -> Legislator Painter -> COO -> CEO -> Rich Heir Biz-Woman (Garden + 50 pop) -> Illustrator -> Cartoonist -> Booth Babe -> Model -> Lawyer -> Celebrity -> Pop Singer Housewife -> Pastry Chef -> Journalist -> Announcer -> Nurse -> Actress -> Chairprsn -> Noblewmn Student Year 1 Month 11-> Hiker -> Fisherman Land Deed II -> Landlord -> Comedian Nobleman + Noblewmn (0 pop) -> Rich Couple Biz-Man + Biz-woman (30pop) -> Yng Couple -> Yng Family Changed unlock condition for Yng Couple to Biz-man + Biz-woman. And Illustrator needs Garden as well. In my guide I have the names of the investments next to the targets too, but I figured it would be kinda messy for Biz-man in the forum. So if you want to see the list with the investment names check out the guide. Basically it'll be like this: Antique Dlr (FT School) -> Fortuneteller (Tea Contest) -> Tea Expert (Opera House) -> Opera Sngr (Mansion Land) -> Rich Missus (Electioneering) -> First Lady Biz-Woman (Garden + 50 pop -> Design Studio) -> Illustrator (Art Colony) -> Cartoonist (Convention Center) -> Booth Babe (Fashion Show) -> Model (Law Office) -> Lawyer (Luxury Apts) -> Celebrity (Pop Star Debut) -> Pop Singer Housewife (Pastry School) -> Pastry Chef (Magazine) -> Journalist (News Program) -> Announcer (Big Hospital) -> Nurse (Acting School) -> Actress (Famous College) -> Chairprsn (Develop Resort) -> Noblewmn Student Year 1 Month 11-> Hiker (Fishing Grounds) -> Fisherman Land Deed II -> Landlord (Comedy Jam) -> Comedian * Biz-man + Biz-woman (30 pop, Botanical Garden) -> Yng Couple * Nobleman + Noblewmn (Airport + Develop Resort, 0 pop -> Ceremony) -> Rich Couple The one for Biz-man is a nifty tree diagram.
Yeah I did the 2 investments to get the two, but I never got the Ceremony unlock...worst thing is, My "Invest" button has the "New" badge on it...but I've done everything in there and it says "No investments available" when I look at the list. EDIT: Also I noticed people posting about multiple ponds...you get 1 pond initially with the requisite number of lanterns/nat.rocks...do you need double the amount to get a 2nd pond? thanks!
No, once you get your first pond, you get it for free when you start a new game. Unlocking the pond again in your second game gives you two. That's the max though.
I've started a new game again, and I was wrong actually. ALL the bath effects carry over. I'm going to see if it stacks over multiple playthroughs.
Random Facts #3 - You can unlock VIP Room after Yr 15, and still get it carried over to the next game. At least that happened to me.
