Probably the Pak Room. I can't remember its full name. The one that makes lots of noise so you can't put it near rooms.

Here's some of the more useful stuff in the guide, it's too lengthy to cut-paste here. XD

    Bath Effects
    Jacuzzi: Seniors up
1 Vending Mchn, 2 Natural Stones
Adds +0.5 compatibility to Seniors at Level 1, +1 at Level 2, +2 at Level 3

    Spa: Adults Up
2 Pachinko Mchns, 1 Massage Chair, 1 Lantern
Adds +1 compatibility to Adults at Level 1, +2 at Level 2, +3 at Level 3

    Silky Smooth: Women up
Use a Milk on the Bath first for one level of effect
    2 Salons, 1 Azalea, 2 Natural Stones
Adds +1 compatibility to Female Youths and Adults, +0.5 to Seniors at Level 1, +2/1 at Level 2, +3/1.5 at Level 3

    Fast Friends: Groups up
2 Karaoke Rooms, 1 Ping Pong Tbl, 1 Azalea
Adds +1.5 compatibility to Groups at Level 1, 3 at Level 2, +4 at Level 3

    In-Crowd:
    Youth up
    2 Souvenir Stnds, 2 Azaleas
Adds +1 compatibility to Youths at Level 1, +2 at Level 2, +3 at Level 3

Forever Young: Adults up, Seniors up
    2 Fortunetellers, 2 Plum Trees, 1 Pond
Adds +1 compatibility to Male Adults and Seniors, +1.5 to Female Adults and Seniors
*** I haven't started a second playthrough with Pond carried over so I don't know the stats for Level 2/3.

    Springerade: Men up
    2 Cafes, 2 Vending Mchns, 1 Bamboo
Adds +1 compatibility to Males at Level 1, +2 at Level 2, +3 at Level 3

    Scenery
Each decoration provides a different amount of scenery depending where it is placed in relation to the facility.

    5 4 3 4 5
    4 2 1 2 4
    3 1 D 1 3
    4 2 1 2 4
    5 4 3 4 5

Where 1=full effect, 5=weakest, D=decoration. The details are in my guide, the formatting is kinda hard to translate over to forums so you'll have to check there. :X

Anyway, for Ponds (+26), if you place a Bath horizontally, or a Large Bath directly on top or below it, you'll get a 2x bonus of +52. 1-tile facilities will get +39 in the same area. Again, for details check the guide. Also note that for Large Baths, scenery and facility compatibility effects only apply to the left-most 2x2 portion of the bath:
    BBX
    BBY

If you place decorations where their 2-tile perimeter only covers the XY areas, you won't get the scenery bonus. This applies to facility effects too, or namely the placement of facilities to get bath effects. And on the subject of Large Baths, the only entrance it has is on the X-tile, so you only need a clear path to that, either from the top or to the right. So, to equivocal, you might want to change the position of your Pond and Azaleas in your Large Bath layout. :)

Some I'm not sure of, like the Young Couple, which is unlocked by the Botanical Garden investment, but I'm not sure if it's unlocked over game progress naturally, or by Biz-man.

You should have the following for that bath with that layout. Glamour Seed and Milk is used. Could you please check again? :)

    1 + 2 - Jacuzzi
    1 + 1 - Spa
    2 + 1 - Silky Smooth

How do I unlock the cafe?

  6. phazer89

You have to complete the Cafe Owner investment, which is unlocked by raising Manager to 65 Popularity or Pastry Chef to 45 (or maybe 40). During my playthrough both happened together so I'm not too sure. If possible, could you try it out and let me know? I'm writing a guide so your input would be appreciated (and credited). Thanks! :)

Yep, I checked the stats on paper, but just in case I tested it in-game too. Did you use the Fame Seed on the female bath as well? That would lead to a Lv3 Jacuzzi and full compatibility for Seniors, and would also explain the 2 hearts for Males.

Hi Phazer, yes I did use the Fame Seed. Sorry I couldn't remember what the Fame Seed does and thought it didn't help in the popularity. Seemingly it does. So that explains the missing 0.5. You can correct it in the guide then. :)

That seems to be the optimum way for Bath (W) as far as I can find. Since the seeds are pretty useless on all other facilities.

I've also found out that you can add "infinite" 'Popularity Seeds' to rooms. I've added 15 to my Western Room pumping it up to 302 popularity. It really helps in passing all those investments where you need to get the person to stay in it. Observing them, they more frequently visits Baths and Arcades or Restaurants for some reason. By putting a lot of 'Popularity Seed' on this 3 facilities and the Rooms itself helps you unlock and pass those investment earlier in the game.

So far I've been unable breakthrough getting everything done by Yr 15. I'll be waiting for your guide to get an optimum way. Since I forgot what investments leads to which. And yes, I still need a layout for Bath (M). Wondering if anyone out there have figured the best layout for it. :)

Pachinko Machine and Azalea. Sorry for the omission!

Yep, that works out now. :D Using the Fame Seed gives +1 to Jacuzzi and Spa, and Springerade/Silky Smooth for male/female baths. So actually you could remove some of the Stones/Azaleas/Salons and add other effects.

Yep, I've used the seeds 16+ times, and it would probably work with more. I included the observations in my guide, and my 'passing' stats. The difficulty comes with Kairobot and Chimpan Z, for Kairobot you'll probably need 300 Pop for your facilities.

Now that I'm done with the guide I'll think up of layouts too, I was doing some half-way when I started on it. XD

You can actually just use milk to get Silky Smooth on female baths.

Ok, my guide's been posted, click here.

Edit// Despite what the game says Pond, Large Baths, VIP Room will be carried over as and when they are unlocked, I unlocked mine like Year 50++. XD Dunno whether this was intended or a bug.

Yep, I'm aware of that, just saying that the Fame Seed will add to that as well.

Check the first post or some of the earlier posts, you'll need this layout:
    Forever Young
    2 Fortunetellers + 2 Plum Trees + 1 Pond = Adult up + Senior up

You'll get the Pond by having 20 Natural Stones and 20 Lanterns (some have gotten it with 20 of either). Possibly you'll need to unlock Plum (you need this for Forever Young anyway) and Maple Trees first as well.

Random Facts #1 - If you are playing through Hot Springs Story the second time in which you have unlocked Chimpan Z and Kairobot in your first. They will randomly appear in your games to visit you again! :)

Random Facts #2 - If you use Milk on Bath (W), they get Silky Smooth. But that doesn't happen for Bath (M). :(

your male jaz and spring is wrong unless you gave an item that layout is 3 jaz and 2 spring.

It's correct actually, for Springerade each bath is covered by 6 cafes, 6 vending machines and 3 bamboos. Maybe you missed those in row 7?

Looks like you're the first to post a full inn layout. :D
Mind if I include it in my guide? I'm working on a few revisions, will be updating it with a newer version.

If you're referring to me, it took me 2 days writing it up and a few more days before that collecting the data. XD
